I just found two Bruce Lee flicks (Fists of Fury & Chinese Connection) bundled for $4. The transfers suck and there aren't any extras, but what do you want for four bones?

I still need to pick up a few cheap flicks (I need Stargate!), and will probably raid the local Wal-Mart tomorrow.

Anyone bought anything new?

Not lately. I rarely buy DVDs, because the cheap ones tend to be ones I don't really want, and I don't want to pay the high price of the good stuff.

I am, however, contemplating getting Life of Brian special edition.

They have Wal-Mart in Puerto Rico? Anyway, if you get Stargate you should get that 2-disc Ultimate Edition, it's got the theatrical release, and an extended edition that is loads better! I recommend it!

And yes, I've gotten quite a few DVD's lately, I have a huge checklist of movies hanging on my fridge, and I've been crossing off items like mad. In the past month I've gotten these following DVD's:

-Age of Innocence
-The Untouchables
-Constantine
-Sink The Bismarck(1960)
-James Camerons Expedition Bismarck
-One Night With Dice
-Andrew Dice Clay: No Apologies
-All Quiet On The Western Front (1930)
-Unforgiven Special Ed.
-Back To The Future Trilogy
-Alien Quadrilogy
-Beavis & Butthead Do America

I haven't been picking up many DVDs lately.. heaps of CDs have entered my collection recently, though. That could make for a nice tangent thread..

The last DVDs I bought were..

-The Triplets of Belleville (used)
-Space Ghost Coast To Coast vol. 3
-Leon The Professional Deluxe Edition

..and there's a copy of Tron Special Edition at the local pawn shop I've been eyeing for awhile now. Tomorrow.. tomorrow might be the day.

We do indeed have Wal-Marts here, Sam's Club too!

I was in WM today with my dad (he's here on vacation, hence my absence here during the day), and casually stumbled upon the extended edition of Stargate for a cool $8! Next to it was From Dusk till Dawn, also for $8! Needless to say, I snatched them both up post-haste.

Hi guys,
I picked up some more DVD's today, I took an off day from work to relax, here's what I got!:

-Downfall (supposed to be a fantastic movie about Hitler's last days in his bunker)

-The Occult History of the Third Reich(documentary)
-The Architecture of Doom (documentary)

Great movie with great performances. An amazing and completely convincing portrayal of Hitler. My only complaint is that the length of the movie was very much felt by the end. Other than that, damn good.

Oh shit man you came to the right spot, I'm a huge Jean Claude Van Damme fanatic. It depends if you are open minded about him or not really, I mean most people like his classic martial arts movies and not much else, but he has done some really great stuff expanding his acting talents with his newer movies, even though his new ones have only been straight to video in the USA.

From what I've learned, anyone interested in JCVD movies will atleast remember and like these movies:
-Bloodsport
-Kickboxer
-Double Impact
-Lionheart
-Death Warrant

Those 5 movies above are his classic movies, where he really showcases his martial arts abilities, and there's alot of slow motion for his high flying trademark helicopter kicks. These movies always showcase him at some point doing the splits, thats like a definitive Van Damme trademark. I absolutely love all 5 of those films, I can watch them over and over and over.

Then JCVD hit the big time and signed a huge contract with Universal Studios and his movies were still awesome, but now they had better directors, and some higher class actors(though not by much). These were in the action movie heyday. You've gotta get:
-Universal Soldier
-Hard Target (directed by John Woo!) Many people forget it's because of JCVD that John Woo even got a chance to direct a hollywood movie, and some people say its Woo's downfall. Who knows, this is my favorite John Woo movie though by far, it's like a good Western, and JCVD's leg is his 6-shooter.

-Timecop: This is to date JC's most successful movie, it was all downhill after this one. This is a must buy.

I also recommend all the Ringo Lam directed movies, as these are grittier, darker films that push Van Damme to at least give a good effort in the 'acting' department, but they still feature some great fighting, and they tend to be more realistic style of fighting, so they are very different movies, they are more story driven, as opposed to the comic book style of movies that his classic ones are:
-Maximum Risk
-Replicant
-In Hell

His last movie was Wake Of Death, and it is pretty cool, it's very similar to Man On Fire(with Denzel Washington) in it's story. Not as good as that, but for a fan of JCVD I like it very much. Not for everyone. All the movies I listed are sure to please you if you like JC, those are IMO sure things. I own all his movies, but I wouldn't recommend all his movies to everyone, but I think you can't go wrong with the ones I listed.
