Not often enough, a video game fan gets to live out a dream. Whether it's taking part in a game's actual creation or meeting one of those responsible, one must jump at the chance when it presents actually itself. Such was the case with our latest feature, where Sega-16 contributor David Patricola got to actually meet one of his gaming idols: the famed Yuzo Koshiro. Check out volume thirteen of Stories from the Book of (http://www.sega-16.com/2006/09/stories-from-the-book-of-genesis-vol-13/)Genesis (http://www.sega-16.com/forum/../Stories%2013.php) for the scoop!

Nice story. Good to finally read a real story instead of another fanfic

(i'm aware of the hypocrasy)

That was an enjoyable read. While I certainly have not met Yuzo in person or spoken to him on the phone, I have shared an e-mail with him and talked to him even more on the Ancient forums. I am saddened that those forums are gone. The site went through an overhaul last year and the forums did not return, not even the Japanese ones.

Which member here is David Patricola?

Which member here is David Patricola?

And why does he inspire such hatred towards him? :) I'm so jealous of his trip and the rare soundtracks Yuzo Koshiro appears to be hoarding no doubt waiting to eBay for his retirement fund.

Man, that guy was so lucky, meeting such a gaming legend. Wonder how they communicated though, does Yuzo speak fluent English?
Anyhow, kudos to him for being one lucky fellow. I do wonder though, does Yuzo realise how popular he is over Europe as well?

He laughed in amazement on how I could retain all this trivial knowledge, especially since he doesn't remember a lot of it, considering he made most of that music ten years prior.

Game makers move on. Fans don't. But yeah - great article! Awesome stuff. Would the real David Patricola please step forward?

'Allo, people. David (finally) signing on the forums here. I'm glad you guys enjoyed my tale of visiting Yuzo.

To answer your question, Henry Spencer, Yuzo does speak fairly well. I had to speak at a somewhat slower pace and annunciate more, but other than that it was easy to conversate with him. His mom, however, speaks zero English, so he (or Ayano) had to translate for her.

The SoR2 soundtrack that I had him sign was in fact theMars Colony Music album that had just come out a few months before, so they all had a great time looking at the packaging and large poster that came with it.
