Just FYI, Sonic CD music threads are as old as the game itself :)
I like the Japanese version. It's got people saying 'yaaaaay!'
I'd go with JP/EU version since it's what I've gotten used to but the US soundtrack still isn't bad. What is bad though is the whole game..

Tough choice. I absolutely love both of them, but I think I'm going to have to go with the US version of this track in the end.

Looks like its a tie!
I like the U.S. palmtree panic myself.
Very tropical.

being I just made a US Sonic CD with the Japanese music on it, I love the japanese version better..
(and I made a working CD to be used in the real Sega CD console, it's sweet!!)
and the good thing about the Japanese music on the US CD, it really helps with the "Past" music, because on the US CD, the Past music is a "sampled" version of the Japanese counterparts (using the Sega CDs own Sampler)

Back in the day, I used to like the PCM version of Palm Tree - USA (the past) and now I like the Red Book of Palm Tree - Japan!

well the thing is, the PCM versions are to go with the Japanese version of the CDDA, but in the US version of Sonic CD, it don't make sense..
Hence why I made a US version of Sonic CD with the Japanese CDDA.. it's awesome :p

I also made a Sonic CD mixed cd, mixing red book from both Japan and USA, for a very confusing experience ;)

I did that a long time ago. Just take the US ISO and put it with the Japanese CUE and BIN files. BAM there you go. The only thing that is different from the Japanese version is the music in the FMV and also the length the title screen waits before it disappears (which fits the Japanese music perfectly with the US ISO, but cuts it short in the real Japanese version).
Of course you can always convert the Japanese ISO to boot up on US Sega CDs. I have many Japanese Mega CD-Rs that work on my US Sega CD without any swap tricks or Pro Action Replays or anything else lame like that.

I won't ask why, but on the Japanese version of "Collision Chaos", you hear the sounds of a dot-matrix printers print-head "resetting", as part of the beats.. I won't ask why, it is REALLY weird.. (and I know that sound, after using a dot-matrix printer for most my life)

The U.S. palmtree panic was "inspired" by some song listed in the manual.
So...Spenser owes some singer for inspration.

I think the US track fits the level better, but the E/J one is much better outside of the game and gets me in a real good mood.
