Hello,

I found 2 neat tricks for Sonic cd, tested with legit U.S. and Jap copies.

First Trick-Get all time gems through normal mode, kill Sonic and go back to the title screen, do the stage select cheat, and you can now play any bad future level with good future tune playing in the background. It even has animals jumping around in there too (yaa pollution). This trick only works through Stage select.(both versions).

2nd Trick-Anyone of you guys whos pissed off of owning U.S. version of Sonic cd and not finding a legit converter to play the jap classic then i got a solution for you. you need 2 things-

1. Working American Sega cd (i use 2nd model, not sure about the 1rst model)
2. Both U.S. and Japanese copies of the game.

Start up the U.S. game, go to the Ram menu, and then do a swap with the japanese game. Exit the Ram Menu and the japanese game will start up without any problems. The trick was to get past the bios, which we did.

Hope This was of any help to you guys. Thanks.

Back in the day when I was still playing this game to death, I used to swap the game cd with a music cd or even a PC Engine game mid level, and then did something to trigger it to play a new music track (with out a real data load) to listen to different music as I played.

Sounds like the swap trick can only work with model 2 of Sega CD, since the only to open the CD tray on model 1 is to use the Reset button on the Genesis console itself. The other way is to use the CD control panel but that would mean the system needs to be reset. Either way, the CD system needs to be reset before the tray can be opened.

The game itself plays fine...but its can't play the jap videos for some reason. The system just resets.

The swap trick works with Ridge Racer on the Playstation as well. And you don't need to keep popping the original disc back in to load data since the entire game is under 3MB.
