The widely acclaimed import site was pummeled by constant Sony lawsuits until they couldn't afford to defend themselves anymore. Free market -1

They've used this dirty tactic before to destroy legal things they don't like, for example the PS1 emulator Bleem.

To be honest I can understand why Sony would want to stop an emulator or a company like Lik Sang who makes add-ons to their products. On the other hand I hate regional lockouts.

As far as I know, Lik-Sang didn't "make" the add-ons (like modchips and the like), but just sold them. But if you read the article and have followed yesterday's UK ruling about selling import PSPs in the UK, you can see that this action Lik-Sang took had really nothing to do with selling of add-ons or modchips.

Then again, we don't have the full story, since we don't work at Lik-Sang or Sony's legal department. But given the information available, Lik-Sang is pulling the plug before Sony eats them for lunch in court for selling imported consoles to the UK.

I wonder if PlayAsia and other stores will be next...that leaves it all to Y!J auctions and the overpriced Ebay seller. :p

aside: The PS3 only had one thing going for it in my mind: no region lockouts on software. But this latest development, coupled with the unreasonable pricetag, has eliminated it from my purchase plans. Hell, I'd rather get a 360 than the PS3 (and I hate all things Microsoft).

This was about Lik-Sang 'huring Sony's market interests' - i.e. it's money not going into their pockets. Bleem was a method of playing PSX games that was out of their control, and look where that went.

This is beyond a joke - but it'll sell anyway. Mark my words, the Playstation Three will sell.

No, if Sony was looking out for thier customers they would have released the PSP in all three markets at the same time.

I like Lik-Sang, they had some wonderful cool stuff that I could not find *ANYWHERE* in the US. I certainly hope Play-Asia isnt next.

Correct. However, I was planning on purchasing a PS3 as an encouragement to Sony to continue along the path of region-free. The sooner we get rid of this region lockout nonsense, the better!
