I saw a commerical for a projecter called Zoombox, by Tiger Electronics, so I did some looking around and I can't find any info on it. It looks like a decent deal... but I can't really see it being so good, considering it is a Tiger Electronics product and it is only $300.

Looks like crap. You can't expect something awesome for such a low price. For one the resolution is only something like 512x226 or similar. I am betting that the image is dim as hell and the image quality will suck on top of that. If anyone actually buys this, they deserve what they get and there should be no refunds.

I was hoping you'd give your two cents on this... I don't really need one, but I thought it was odd as shit that you could go to Wallys World and buy one for next to nothing.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect much out of projector that cheap.
Then again, maybe its simply a revolution in projector technology that's actually being sold at an affordable price rather than being gouged to just below the price of other projector technologies.
....Nah.

The TV commercial shows a CRTs shadow mask on it the image.. I know it's a simulated, but who the heck puts a CRT shadow mask on it? (unless it is driven by a CRT, but that would be impossible, if it's sharing space with a DVD player)
(to actually see the pattern on the image on the commercial, and see it's a shadow mask from a CRT, I had to use my HDTV on the HD commercial)

They have that a radio shack. Go there a view it for yourself.
seems a bit dodgy to me..
then again, there are those people that make home projectors out of a PC monitor and a fresnel lense.. i cant imagine the image could get much worse..
its probably just a cheap lense/lcd panel... and a really low brightness lamp, it doesnt exactly look like its over packed with features either.. ill be there is no keystone or even OSD...
it scares me that its got audio inputs though, i sure hope it doesnt have built in sound.

Tiger Electronics, eh? I hope it reduces all sound coming out of your TV to tinny, off-key beeps. :D

I just got access to the LCD used in this projector, and I must say, it sucks!!
Check out these pictures of it in operation.. You tell me what you think of the LCD used.. (i thought it was a CRT, but it was an LCD)

well you know what's worse? that was RGB (the panel internally only accepts RGB "analog", not even digital, it has a built in ADC)
What I find funny, is the border around the Sega CD logo, actually has GEOMETRIC distortion, on an LCD!! How in the WORLD does THAT happen? :o

Radioshack has remaining Cinego's on sale for just $500.
Almost entirely unrelated.

On my plane trip to Domnican Republic, I picked up two magazines, and one of them was Motor Trend. And in that Motor Trend, not only did I read that US-arm of the Ford Motor Company can't tell their head from their ass (duh) and is outt of the butt and into the fuck, and also reading various reviews and articles about cars I saw a whole page advert for GPS at Radio Shack. And there was this hot girl who was a manager at some Radio Shack out in Illinois. Her name was Julian something... I'll dig the magazine out and find out tommorow because I am jetlagged and I need some sleep. So it is my quest to physicall go to that Radio Shack, or at the very least, call it up one night.
Now, I really don't want/need a projector, but seeing that I saw something like this on TV, I just had to start a topic about finding how bad this piece of plastic is, and the flood of posts about Little Johnny (who never got his two dollars that he could put towards this projector) screaming that it looks like ass when he hooks up his XSEXBOX360WANKCUBE3 5.0L V8
Like I'm supposed to give a shit. And I'll all see you in the morning.

For some reason I don't have the magazine at hand... it'll turn up. Hildenbrook or something like that I beleive?

Ah yes, I found the Motor Trend where I saw the ad with the hot chick who works at radio shack. she works at the radio shack in Willowbrook, IL.
Oh yeah, she has a Myspace too. I actually typed her name in for shit and giggles. ;)

She looks a lot better in the ad, as the photos on her myspace look like ass:

She's not too bad, though she seems to not like being in any picture without other people. I'm surprised the Radio Shack picture doesn't have a dozen of her friends in it as a condition of using her photo. Only 22 and the manager of a Radio Shack? She's goin' places. Next stop, President of the United States!

Well, according to the ad, the radio shack is in another city. I think I'll send her a message, to see if it is really her. I dunno if the ad is still running. It's for some GPS, and how real men come to radio shack to ask her about GPS than get lost or something.
Those pics on her myspace looks a LOT like the girl in the ad.
