Since I started looking on ebay for megadrive games there always seem to be a few pirate games on there. Not pirate like the Hong Kong hacks but pirate copies of actual games. I would have thought that pirate megadrive game would be extremly rare as the manufacturing process surely would not be easy but from what i have seen on ebay they seem almost common. Is this the same in other countries?

here are a few links to current auctions with pirate games:

I have tried to report to ebay in the past with one game but it is extremly difficult to make a complait to them, I contacted the seller but he left the auction up and tried to tell me that it was a legit cart, the game was ultimate MK3 that went for about $25. It pisses me off alot cause i dont think some people realise there are such things as pirated megadrive games and they end up paying good money for a piece of shit. let me know all your opinions on this.

I've not really looked at Genesis games much on Ebay.com, but i can tell you that pirated DVD's are all over that site.

Look up any anime series and you are pretty much guaranteed to find at least half a dozen pirated discs.

I kind of take it as Ebay doesn't really care as long as they get their $$ from the auction.

Money is the way of the world if folk didn't buy them then other folk wouldn't sell them.

I've seen pirated games for sale in GameStation before: one of those Japanese dual-carts. It was a boxed Verytex/Super Air Wolf for £2.99, I believe.

I donīt mind pirated carts for sale, but I would prefer the Taiwanese unique games like King of Fighters.

I've only come across a few pirates, mostly from the sellers dealing with Jap/Asian imports. You think there would almost be some sort of "rarity" with a pirate in a weird sort of way. Especially the multi-carts where there piraters would put 2 to 3 really good games on the one cart. Unfortunately its the covers etc that aren't as good. I have a few pirate 2 in 1 games and was going to toss them in the bin, but decided in their own way they were collectable!

Maybe it was after sega noticed the multicarts that they decided to do their own!

I'd almost forgotten about Verytex!

A guy at the EB I work at did that once, we got someone trying to trade in a Taiwanese Game Boy multicart and we did it under one of our 'generic' SKUs. I wanted to buy it for posterity, but our manager sent it to the warehouse.

Is Genesis pirating a big problem in the States? I don't think I've ever seen a pirate Genesis cart on our shores...
