anybody heard of this? I acquired it via a huge trade in germany and todya decided to pop it in and it's one of the best and addicting strategy rpg's out there I would say. I looked up on the internet but can't find much else so wonder who knows it here

It's known as "Langrisser" in Japan, and is a fairly well known tactical RPG. It's okay, but to be honest, I've always preferred Shining Force over it.

thanks I never knew this. I also think shining force is better but that game is for me the best strategic rpg of all time (sf3) but warsong I simply didn't know the name and put it in and really liked it. are the other langrisser games translated as well?

Number 2 for the genesis and Der Langrisser for the SNES have been fan translated. There's a lot more, check out the HG101 article about the series.

And both Langrisser games on the Genny have INCREDIBLE music!!! Some of my favorite tunes.

Great use of color in this game. Specially on the portraits.

I was lucky enough to have both Warsong and Shining Force when I was a kid. While I thought Shining Force was more fun, Warsong was the more challenging game. It's unforgiving, dead characters stay dead. Forcing you to constantly replay battles until you find the right strategy to proceed, or struggle later on in the game with limited troops.

I was looking at the back of the box of this game today, and it looks like the screenshots on the back were taken by someone holding a camera up to the TV screen. I've never seen a game do this before.
