Anyone cast a ballot in the midterms here in the States?

If I were American I would have voted for the Democrats - unless of course I was born in the south and therefore believed that hunting, religion, slavery, incest and segregation of people with different ideas to me were all awesome, in which case I would probably have voted Republican. I would also vote Republican if I lived in New York as I find Hillary Clinton an obnoxious hag.

I voted, looks like the battle for the Senate has just begun.

Voted. Never thought I'd root for the Democrats, but WOOHOO! They took the House! Next up, the Senate! End the Tyranny!

I voted, but I was more concerenced about the local elections, as I was working on a campaign for the sheriff's race locally, and we won. :D

Vote for a party that wants USA to sign the Kyoto Protocol. Or a party that trashes your own weapons of mass destruction before saying others can't make 'em. Or a party that rebuilds and stabilizes the nation just destroyed by the latest war before starting another war. Or a party...

I hope you realize that'd the US would be outt of the butt and into the fuck if we signed the Kyoto Protocol.

That and oil companies, and all of the polutant companies have big lobbies in congress.

Tourettes guy refrence.

It means that we can't afford it... and if we where to spend the $$$ we'd be in even more debt.

Even though we have a ten trillion dollar GDP, there seem to be a lot of things politicians tell us we can't afford.

I think the thing about the Kyoto Protocol is that we can't afford to not sign on. The cost of commercial production and transportation doesn't matter so much when Earth is uninhabitable.

Well, the USA is the richest country in the whole world. The EU can keep its welfare and still afford it. If the USA don't sign the Kyoto Protocol soon, more disasters like New Orleans will happen in the future, more often.

I've never been one to care for any political party, but thanks to that doofus that sits in the Oval office I took immense joy in seeing the Democrats win the House.

I hope they take the Senate and make him suffer his last two years like we have for the past 6.

yea, when the democrats won, i was pretty excited.. though, those ballots i had to do (3 very large pages of paper), were quite hard to understand, on some of the "local" questions (uh, the voting part, not the election part)..

Ohio seemed to have done pretty well yesterday. That smoking ban goes into affect on the 8th of Dec. It'll be fun to go into the bar I use to work at and just laugh since about every employee smokes while cooking, and 90% of the customers smoke too.

BUT WE COULDN'T PASS THE DAMN CASINO BILL! FUCK! I'm tired of having to drive to West Virginia everytime I want to waste $40-50.

We passed a smoking ban here in Colorado recently. I love it. The smokers are always trying to find a way to sue the state, though. A couple bars are saying that they have next to no business since the ban went into effect. I guess people don't like going out if they can't smoke or something. Smokers sure are a strange bunch.

And Casinos are exempt from the smoking ban.

Too bad for the smokers in Ohio, since there's no casinos....

I'm still pissed.

Call me an ignorant foreigner, but is there anything in Ohio? Or is it just my interpretation that it one of the most pointless states in the Union?

Casinos are awesome and, although I hate the current UK nanny state, I am pleased about our looming smoking ban.

Ohio is simply an OK state. Nothing too bad about it nothing really good either.

Now Delaware....thats a useless state.

I have since been informed that the useless state I was thinking of is Iowa, is that worse than Delaware?

Idaho

Iowa
Montana
Rhode Island
Deleware

Are among the most boring, smallest and useless states

No, Delaware is still pretty damn useless.

Even a screen door factory can't up the excitement factor of that place.

Idaho = one giant potato farm

Montana = Two cities linked by a road with no speed limit (nothing to hit). Plus its full of dinosaur bones.

I dunno about the others.

But Indiana kinda sucks too, save for Indianapolis and the cities that spill over from Chicago.

"So, Ohio. I hear there's a roller coaster park there."

"Yes, Ohio has roller coasters"

(horrible transcript from Metalpocalypse)

Ohio actually has some worthwhile places.

Cleveland: Rock Hall, Science Center, Jacobs Field/Gund Arena ( I still don't call it "The 'Q' "), Galleria, Tower City (although that's gone down a tad recently), West Side Market, Slymans

Toledo: Tony Packos: That's about it.

Sandusky: Cedar Point

Canton: Pro Football hallf of fame

Cincinati: it's close to Kentucky.

There isn't much to New York outside of NYC. It's a really poor state. When I mean poor, the median income is crap because there are no jobs that pay good. The scenery can be pretty crappy. I went to NYC by train eariler this year, and some of the houses where nice on the way... but Albany is a DUMP! City is filithy! Just a waste. There is some beautiful scenery and the summer scene locally isn't too bad as I'm a half-hour away from the thousand islands. The Winter weather is always good looking, except the sand when they salt/sand the roads. People are rather friendly, crime is confiened to a few places and is low in my area. If you love living in the country and want to retire... NY is a good state. It's fun driving around in the country.

It's great that there's a military base, but it's the only thing keeping my area from being an economic wasteland, but then again it is an economic wasteland as all of the new jobs coming to the city are service jobs -- like fast food/retail and they don't pay good worth a damn.

Median income in my area is $25,000... and there are next to no appts, because a lot of landlords will only rent to military/won't fix up houses/rent is too expensive. The car dealerships will try and sell some brand new econobox to some one working a shit job, and while they have a new car... they'll be paying $300+ for a dinky Chevy Aveo! Something like that is more "dated" than my car.

When I get my degree... well I have a better chance than most getting a job LOCALLY, but here's hoping I can get a good starter job w/ a two year degree. There's an agency that deals with mentally disabled people -- kind of in the field I am studying for, but I don't want to change diapers for shit wages. They are always hiring, but I want to be an advocate for, well something I don't know yet!

Don't Kentucky make bourbon? What are the decent states in America? What exactly does Alaska do? And is Rhode Island boring or queer?

Kentucky has alot of "country folk" that get scarier and more inbred the farther you move from civilization.

Alaska has oil and is the last true "wilderness" state. If you enjoy pretending you're homeless....i mean....love camping and the great outdoors thats your place. Plus you get paid to live there.

I dunno about Rhode Island, but its better than Delaware.
