The game is out, and the world is more or less in agreement. The game is terrible. Almost nothing has been improved from the past 3D titles, it's full of glitches and it has about as much polish as an old, rusty fork. To top it off, this is supposedly the so-called "rebirth" of the series.
I wish Sega could get the message and just stop molesting the franchise, because it's beyond redemption now.

Here's what I think needs to happen:
-Sega needs to retire Sonic Team as they are holding Sega back and they don't make games that can be called "good".
-Sega needs to retire Sonic himself. There is no need for Sonic anymore, he is no longer "cool" and he is associated with more bad games than good. He was created to show off the awesome Blast Processing capabilities that Jesus Christ included when He designed the Mega Drive/Genesis. All of the current systems have Blast Processing v. 2.334 and nobody cares about it anymore. Sonic is not a great mascot and he is best on the Genesis. Either create a new mascot (they did it before... with Sonic himself) or become mascot-less. A company doesn't need a mascot to survive.
I will give Sega one last chance, and that's the Wii version of Sonic. If it sucks, then we need to set Sega on fire or something.

God is punishing them for neglecting the "Streets of Rage" series.

At this rate I'm pretty glad they are neglecting it.

The whole world? WOW!
I'll wait until I've played and finished it before I judge it. First I'll need a 360, though. Christmas soon, though.

I don't think Sonic or Mario made that great of a jump to 3D.
"Sonic Adventure" didn't really *WOW* me...even Sonics parts were great in limited spurts, and Mario 64 is Mario punching, kicking, & butt stomping goombas and stuff.
I honestly feel that characters designed from the ground up for 3D games are better *IN* 3D games than 2D characters shoehorned into 3D games.

I agree. Mario 64 made me by a PSX. As for Sonic, I stopped playing when he started talking.

Sonic talking didn't bother me as much as Mario running his damn lips.
"Waa-hooo" this and "Momma-Mia" that make me wanna punch him in the face. Adding voices to the SMB2 PORT on GBA rendered that game unplayable, and i can't really understand *WHY* voices needed to be added.
Someone at Nintendo had the idea that voices were needed to appeal to modern gamers? I have played all three of the "Ty the Tasmanian Tiger" games (a modern platform game which IMO, happens to be better than Sonic and Mario's efforts) and Ty doesn't talk constantly when i'm hopping around levels.

Oh, come on. Mario's voice is perfect.

Sonic has existed well on portable platforms. We have Secret of the Rings and Rivals to look forward too.
Did you honestly expect anything other than mediocrity with Sonic's latest 3D effort?

Mario's voice is perfect.
It's so over the top that it's annoying as hell.

I gave up on Sonic 2006 when they included the other two characters.

Agreed. Who the hell needs 2 slower paced characters when the other one is full of freaking speed.
Also when does the Wii Sonic get realeased. I wanna try it out.:?

But that's the whole point, it's really defining and gives him the same charisma Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck have.

I'd have to agree that something really needs to be done with Sonic Team, they havn't done anything good for a long time now. But Joe, are you retarded? Why the hell is Sega going to kill Sonic if he makes them millions each year no matter what the quality of the games are? Obviously this can't go on forever, and with this big title getting horrible reviews, maybe they'll try to take it a bit more seriously now. Really I think the best idea is starting over with the 3D games and trying to redo what Sonic Adventure was supposed to be. Shooting, finding, DBZ, ect. stuff is going a little too far, Sonic 06 was actually supposed to appeal to older Sonic fans yet they expected them to love childish annoying crap from the latest games - any older fans revisiting the series after a long time wouldn't even know who Shadow/Silver are, let alone like them at all.

No, it gives him a stereotyped accent that's been done to death.
Sort of like Big Cat in "Sonic Adventure" the "big dumb guy voice". :mad:

If it was stereotyped he would have sounded like Tony Soprano.

Whole world in agreement?
the media sources use different systems even across the same scales.
Some sources use a 5/10 as a strict average (with 6.0 meaning "good") as opposed to the Gamespot/1up method of applying 'SCHOOL' viewpoints and assigning 'average' to 7/10 (like a dip-shit)
That and the review from Gamespot was done by some retard that gave FFVII a 9.5/10
Sonic '06 was also given a score of 9.5 by Dave Halverson. . .and most of us know how broken/generous his views are.
Plus, the scores haven't quite been universal.
* 1UP rated the game a 5.5/10
* EDGE rated the game a 3/10
* Eurogamer rated the game a 2/10
* GameBrink rated the game a 57/100
* GameDaily rated the game a 2.5/5
* Game Informer rated the game a 6.75/10
* Game-On rated this game an 87/100
* Gamespot rated the game a 4.4/10
* GameTrailers rated it 4.6/10
* The Official Xbox 360 Magazine rated the game a 6/10
* Gamereactor Sweden rated the game a 5/10
I'm not exactly eager to go out and buy it with these scores.
But I really do want to play it to try things out and make sure this isn't a repeat of jaded reviewers that can't get the camera to work (I've never had a game-breaking problem with a 3D Sonic's camera that ruined the entire game).

I played a demo of it.
And so help me god, it's the worst Sonic game I've ever played. And that's including the Gamegear monstrosity Sonic Labyrinth.
Sonic Team's games have sharply declined in quality as of late. I enjoyed Sonic Adventure, and I was amused by Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Heroes was a steaming pile of crap, and Sonic 2006 is worse.
But I don't think the Sonic character should be abandoned. I just think they should stop making 3D Sonic games, and dissolve Sonic Team. And let DIMPS develop them. I dunno about you guys, but I thought the Sonic Advance games were fantastic, and Sonic Rush was a masterpiece.

Sonic Team has been severely gutted over the past 5 years.
Sonic Rush was nice enough, but far from a masterpeice.
Sonic Advance 1 was horrid.
yeah, my opinion on the franchise is wonky.
I consider the worst titles in the franchise to be Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic 2(GameGear).
The odd thing is that I consider Sonic Heroes to be among my favorite 5 titles in the series (at #5).

The real sting is that it was over hyped to the point that the fans saw it as the second coming of the franchise; escorting it a new love of Sonic by the masses not seen since the original game released in 1991. That's one reason why many of the fans are so pissed, they climbed up so high only to suffer a huge fall. I did as well, the anticipation I felt for this game related to other big rebirths for franchises like Metroid Pirme and Resident Evil 4 revamped their respective series. I still plan on playing and/or buying this game, but I'll probably wait a while (since I don't own a 360 or PS3 and there may be a PC version in the works). If there is a PC version slated for release, the guys at Sega better get their act together and fix the bugs and load times in this game, so they can at least salvage this title.

Here's what I think needs to happen:
Scrap Sonic for ten years and return to the other classic titles.
Fixed.
