We all have that game that took forever to get... or we want badly, but can't seem to locate.
I found that Kid Chameleon was one of the more uncommon games for me to find... uncommon to buy, and uncommon to find cheap. But I got it for a good price.
You all may remember my quest for Revenge of Shinobi with Batman. Finding it was rough, but in the end all I had to do was to write out a huge check, and it was mine.
Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 was perhaps the hardest, because the number of copies on ebay is almost next to none, and it can also attract some decent coin.

I usually get what I want after I decide to set my sights on it. And the decision to set my sights on it usually results from seeing it at an acceptable price (like Panorama Cotton, Super Fantasy Zone, Megaman: The Wiley Wars, Monster World IV, etc etc etc). One game that I haven't been haplessly after but I would like to have is the Japanese version of Alien Soldier. I really don't want to pay full price, though, as the game isn't all that great.
The game I really want now? Golden Axe Warrior. Not seeing it for a decent price, though.

Well, if I wanted... and if I really wanted I could buy all of the titles I want just like that, but I am a very frugal man.
I just want to get a RGB-Component transcoder and a Mega Drive 2 SCART cable right now. I'll have the Component cables and AC adaptor soon enough, but the cables and transcoder are too pricey right now. In a few weeks, we'll see.

Shinobi III, Castlevania, Sonic 3D and Sensible Soccer were all games that took me a while to aquire at a reasonable price.

I'm still waiting for Japanese copies of Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles to crop up on eBay. I've never seen a Japanese Sonic 3D cartridge, oddly enough.

There is no Japanese version of Sonic 3D.
The MD was DEAD when the game came out in late '96, and I recall hearing for the longest time, someone within Sega of Japan did NOT want the game to be released there. But it eventually did get released over there, on the Saturn in 1999.

For me it was finding Wonder Boy in Monster World complete. It was one of the few games I needed complete. I finnally got it for $10 in Ebay. Works perfectly.
For some reason Pirates Gold! has eluded me for years though.

Would you believe I have been waiting longest for Sparkster? It isn't that common over here at ALL. Copies of it can go for over £10 and they usually aren't even complete. I have had so many failures getting that. :(
But I have one now, £6.69 complete including a mint instruction booklet. Works like a charm. :)

Japanese Rocket Knight Adventures. Took me long enough to wangle with a French eBayer, but I got it in the end, absolutely mint and with the registration card to boot. I'm on an importing spree, I suppose.

finding a UK Alien Soldier took me years to find one for a good price and for some one in the US to sell it
Finding Castlevania Bloodlines was hard for me since I don't buy online. I did get it though.

How huge was the check exactly?
Iīve been looking for a copy of Phantasy Star IV for 20,- or less cause I donīt want to pay any more for ages. The same goes for Shining Force 2.
Iīm not really after it, but I almost got a complete PAL Alien Soldier for 25,- yesterday, but some asshole outbid me like 3 seconds before the auctionīs end.
Damnit, I could have made a fortune reselling that crappy game!

$20 USD.
It was complete and mint, and it had Batman in the game. I only paid that much because I wanted the Batman version, and the guy who was selling it was making a big deal it was the Batman version, so I made him a ofter before anyone could jump on it, and the rest is history they say...

Actually, both the Turtles games have eluded me. Hyperstone Heist seems to attract quite a high price on eBay, for what it is worth. Tornament fighters, I just never seem to get around to buy. Also quackshot and bare knuckle 3 and greylancer.

I have Hyperstone Heist, and itīs a pretty cool game. Just a hell lot of fun in 2-player mode.

I don't buy online and where I live it's a bitch to find much in the line for Sega stuff besides Genesis and Dreamcast, so CD and 32x stuff are almost non-existant here; same with Saturns. I've been trying to find TJ&E: Panic on Planet Funkotron for the longest time, as well as any good RPG's.

That´s not exactly a huge check. The more common revisions of Shinobi go for 5 - 10€ here, so 20,-$ for a mint copy with Batman seems well worth it for me. I (not knowing anything about the collector´s price) would have paid twice as much...

Why don´t you buy online?:?:
There´s not much of a risk since 99% of old games are pretty low-price today.
And if you wanna buy something for more than 20 bucks, use PayPal!
I just talked about gameshops in my country on another forum, and the conclusion was that although my city is one of the most important in Germany, with lots of banks and international buisiness as well as the biggest airport in Europe, there is not even a single shop that sells 16-Bit games! So you´re lucky you can at least buy some Genesis games in Saskatchewan (cool name).
