32X cartridge slot

I've heard conflicting reports that some 32X's have cartridge slots that can fit import games, and others that need to be filed before you can fit an import game. I can tell you that mine can fit an average Japanese cart -- I don't have any Sunsoft games that have bigger carts so I don't know about those carts. I only have one import game, Bare Knuckle, which is just Streets of Rage. Nothing too fancy, but it was odd finding a loose Japanese cart at the pawn shop.

I just thought this would help. I know Joe didn't call me a liar, but I thought I might just take some pix for fun while I had the camera for fun. :)

My Genesis 32X can take both regular Jap carts and Sunsoft's Panorama Cotton. My Mega Drive 32X can't take any of those. My guess is that they wanted to region block Jap carts from being played on european consoles, but they didn't do anything to the american version because it is practically the same (NTSC) as the Jap one (less work and trouble). Or maybe they just hate europeans.

Haha, ofcourse. Nintendo have always had higher prices in Europe than the rest of the world. Oh, how I hate being discriminated! The EU sued them for that about ten years ago.

Genesis Knight: Yeah, and that's exaclty the reason why I have a Genesis 32X. I'm still waiting for my first game for it though :/.

David that looks much like my 32X, but I had to do some nice trimming around the slot and a bit more when I obtained some Sunsoft carts. I like how the hinges still fully cover the hole even after the file.

it seems that some 32Xs are slightly (only a hair) larger on the cartridge opening.. i assume it's because of a different mold, from being a different factory? that's my wild guess..

I had to file mine because the Japanese Games would get jammed in the 32X

Japanese carts don't fit in my 32x. They almost do, but the corners in the back come in just a smidge too far.
