I've read that the 32X had an "adapter" that made the 32X work on TVs it didn't. (Zenith, etc)
What is it, what does it do, what's inside it, what's the schematics? I'm all to curious about that little sucker... (does it plug in too? to an electrical outlet--)

I'm betting that it is just an RF adapter. More specifically it probably just attached to the end of the coaxial line and converted into a twin lead connection (the type with the two screws).

but, if it's for the 32X, it had to attach to the AV out of the 32X, which didn't even supply RF at all..
i have a feeling it was for composite video..

Yea, that's what I mean. The RF adapter plugged into the A/V out and converted the composite video and sound into RF compatible video. I don't recall if the Genesis 2 had an RF jack built in to the system or not, but if it didn't, I imagine it'd be the same thing. Why this "adapter" singles out the 32X is beyond me. The Neo Geo has an RF adapter that plugs into the 8-pin DIN, and you can even hook that up to a Genesis 1 and get it to work.
It is probably something like this 300 Ohm twin lead connector:

No no, this adapter went straight to the Composite Video port.. i just asked the SEGA neighbor.. he faintly remembers it, but he thinks it was an amp, as the 32X kills the signal, it's like more resistance on the line, so it's adding..
he thinks SEGA internally coined the name "32X AV Transformer".. he doesn't remember though..

Your Sega neighbor stays up late.
Anyway I don't understand how the 32X couldn't work on any TV that the Genesis alone otherwise could. The signal strength on both seem to be extremely similar to me when switching my RGB cable from the 32X to the Genesis directly and back.

from my own testing, the 32X when overlaying, puts some impedance on the signal, making it slightly weaker.. TVs like Zenith are notorious for being picky..
(yes, don't all gamers stay up late, playing games like Snatcher?) im off to sleep now, actually..

"Sleep is for babies. Gamers play all night!"
(That is a quote from somewhere. I'll see if anyone can figure it out)

i have no idea what to call him, cause he wanted to be anonymous (because he signed an NDA, he shouldn't even be talking SEGA to me).. so, "SEGA Neighbor" was the best I could come up with XD

Haha, awsome. I wish I had a SEGA neighbour.

I work with a guy who sounds, and looks like the guy in the video. Except he has a lot less hair and is older.
