I wanted to do reviews, but unfortunately all the games I know good enough have already been reviewed, except Super Street Fighter II and Fun īn Games, but Iīm not sick enough to play Fun nīGames again, and playing SSF II (alone) isnīt a very attractive thought either.

My second review was published here yesterday. I'll come up with a new review soon.

I think we're progressing at a steady tick, but if it's not enough then I think you should start practicing your writing skills. Sega-16 is a fan-propelled site, and it needs reader submissions in order to thrive. We staff writers are here to ensure that there's always content to be had, not to do all the work.

Hit me up with a sample review. I'll read it over and tell you what you could fix. :)

Ok cool..
Perhaps i could write one and you could add to it? Fix it etc,

You can also "practice" with a Reader Roundtable submission. They are shorter and not as in-depth as reviews. Just tell us about a game you play, what you like about it and what not, and maybe share us a short story or memory about the game.

I'd love to write a review, however, I am too bias and full of contempt/hate plus I have the tendancy to rant and know nothing about technical aspects and I don't have the time.

We have amassed almost 350 reviews in just over 2 years, so we're doing pretty well. We always accept reader submissions, so don't be afraid to contribute! I'm more than willing to help you whip your review into shape (it's what I do for a living, you know). :)

I considered doing a review of a game I have but I never got around to it. Might do it to keep myself entertained during the holidays. :)

For me though, it actually takes me less time to crank out once I actually get started. Eventually you should be able to get them out at a good pace.

Also, i'm moving this to Site Feedback.

This site doesn't quite meet my review needs (I like to caption my screenshots and rate individual categories such as graphics and sound, etc). But if you really like reviews, just reviewed "Popful Mail" (http://www.the-magicbox.com/forums/showthread.php?p=383170#post383170) for the Sega CD over at Magic Box where I admin.

I would write a few more reviews, but most of the ones I could do well have been done. That and the last one that I worked on went way over the top with the word limit and all that. Heh.

VinnyT
12-13-2006, 07:38 PM
What word limit?

I've hit 1500 words atleast once I think, and that was fine.

What have you already done Weasel?

(still waiting for Knuckles's review, which i'm now strangely anticipatting)

Really? I could've sworn that I'd read about a word limit somewhere, something like 1,000 words. Now that that's off of my mind I'll return to that review definitely. As for the ones I've done the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Shining Force, Vay, and Phantasy Star III. There might be a few others though.

Zebbe

My Zero Wing review passed those 1000 words by hundreds. I sent it anyway, thought I couldn't remove anything from it without losing the entirety.

We don't however, want to bore them, so try to keep it at no more than 1,000 words. 700-1000 words is a decent length with which to say everything you need to about any game, good or bad. - From the guidelines to the contributors of this site.

VinnyT
12-14-2006, 05:05 PM
Some reviews simply take more than 1,000. The word "limit" was set to show that reviews need to be more than two paragraphs. I mean, i've gone under 700 and over 1,000 at times and there's been no criticism by Ken.

Genesis Knight

On the other hand, some games are too tortuous to talk about for longer than 600 words or so.

I am currently thinking about writing some sega cd reviews for this site. I really enjoy the site, and the reviews already up. I find the information on the sega cd and its games to be very helpful! Since I've got some sega cd games that haven't been reviewed here yet, I think it would be awesome to make some new reviews (plus i've written reviews for some other sega sites, dreamcast magic and sega collector's guild). So yeah! Hope to have the first review submited here within the week! Again fantastic site, and great forum!

Awesome, and thank you! I'm currently going through the editing of my first review for the site, I've got it under 1000 words now, and I think I've retained all I need to say about it. What game you ask? Why it's a surprise!

Hopefuly have it to ya soon, just want to edit it a bit more to make sure it's fit to print:D

edit: first review sent in! Hope it makes the site!

as i have posted before i will do some reviews on sega plug n plays and the sega collection 4 psp

Rodger
12-31-2006, 10:01 PM
I think that would make a cool article, as I haven't played those plug and play genesis things, nor do I know anyone who has one. I would love to read about them.

I sent a review in the other day myself, hoping it will be the first of many!:D

I'll have the review to you sometime tomorrow or Tuesday, Rodger, so you can give it final approval.

Thanks for the submission!

Would you like for me to write a couple of reviews for the Mega/Sega CD platform, Melf?

Two I have in mind are; Who Shot Johnny Rock and Dragon's Lair. Thanks.

Melf

Those would be great. We're lacking in Sega CD reviews and can use any you may have.

Thanks! :)

No problem, I have many Sega CD games, so this would help the site a bit I think, since I did see we don't really have enough reviews for the system, when the console add on obviously has a lot of potential. If these two go successfully, I'd like to write some more. :)

Ya, I had read that, actually, but that site feedback form didn't seem like the proper way to send it. (no way to submit screenshots) Oh well. I reviewed one of the only games I own that isn't already reviewed: Maximum Carnage. Its okay.

Melf: does it look passable?

The Side by Side features are perfect for you, Joe. You've proven that already with your contributions. I'd love to see you do a full comparison of Thunder Force III and Thunder Spirits for SNES.

a heimdall review, eh? Excellent! I don't have that game and I wanted to know more about it. Saw a copy for 15 bucks, but wasn't sure how the game was. Looking forward to that review.

Also Melf, how's my last review looking? It looks like you have had a steady stream of reviews come your way recently (which is great for the site), so no rush at all :D

The following is a list of games that I own that have not yet been reviewed.

After Burner II (has been reviewed for 32x)
FIFA Soccer 96
John Madden Football 93
Lotus II: RECS
Monopoly
NHLPA Hockey 93
Super Street Fighter II
Virtua Racing (has been reviewed for 32x)

Which one would you most like to see reviewed?

-d

Rodger
02-06-2007, 08:04 PM
i'd like to see that street fighter one reviewed, as I never played that one on the genesis.

Melf, I think I might have sent in 1 or 2 reviews that have yet to see print here on the site, and I might have 1 or 2 more on my computer that I haven't even sent in yet, but I can't remember what I have sent in or not. Haha, any help on this would be great :p

Melf
02-06-2007, 08:46 PM
We could really use reviews for all of those, but you could start with SSFII and Lotus. I'd love to read one on VR, but taking screen shots of it would be almost impossible.

Rodger, I have a review you sent in for Revenge of the Ninja (look for it next Monday), but that's it. Feel free to send in dozens more! :p

metalliqaz
02-07-2007, 12:55 AM
Indeed, VR is impossible to emulate, and shots online are probably incredibly scarce (at least, shots that are free to use)

I could hook up my S-Video modded genesis to my video capture card. That would get results, but they would still look signifigantly different than the emulator shots you've been using. Let me know.

I'll get to work on the reviews :) I think I'll do SSFII first. I'll try to stick to things that aren't already in the review for SFII:SCE.

Somehow Genesis Collective had screens. But, the sites gone and Snifer (whatever way you spelled it) just does care or have the time to really get back to it.

metalliqaz
02-07-2007, 03:41 AM
yea, mobygames has screens too, but they are logo'd and probably not free to use. If you look closely, you can tell they are video captures.

Melf
02-07-2007, 10:41 AM
Most of the shots out there are low quality JPEGs and look horrible. Even though they wouldn't be perhaps as clear as emu shots, I'd gladly take any captures you could get. The quality would still be better than anything out there (just be sure to make them high quality). You'd need between 8-10 shots, depending on how long your review is.

Rodger
02-09-2007, 01:00 PM
awesome, two new genesis reviews sent in this morning. These games' futher installments have reviews on this site, but the originals didn't. Which games? Wait and see
