So I bought a Sega Megadrive from Ebay, but it didn't have a cable with it. So what are the possibilities to connect this thing? It doesn't have a RF output, just an AV. My TV only has a composite video input so i tried to connect the composite cideo signal from this diagram () to my TV. No results, just a black screen. So do i have to make a scart cable for it and play on another TV, or is my Sega just broken?
Also, it didn't have the 10V power source with it, instead it has an 9V adaptor. Is this a huge problem?

just noticed on the back it says Mega Dive RGB and model No 1601-09
I guess this thing doesn't give a composite video signal on the 8 pin DIN output

Yes it does. SCART RGB cables are available all over the place on eBay. Your TV only handles SCART composite?

i just tested the audio with the headphones and the only sound a hear is a loud buzz. So i guess that mij ebay seller ripped me off  .

another question, does the megadrive work with a 9V power supply, or does it really need the 10V?

ok, hold up.. what's the amperage of the power adapter?
when my Genesis model 1 is on 500mA, the audio buzzes, and the thing barely runs.. I always need an amp or more (1A)...
Also, what polarity? If I'm not mistaken, it must be this: + ---C--- -

doesn't matter.. it uses 5v internally... read my other post though, the amperage does matter..

I use 9V, 1A and i get nothing from the composite video and no audio
i used the diagram for the pinout from this link (http://members.optusnet.com.au/eviltim/gamescart/gamescart.htm) and made a cable that connects pin 3 to the pin and pin 2 to the sleeve. for the audio i use simple headphones

OMG! That connector is the AV-output. And it's only for OUTPUTS!
I would be amazed, if this manouvre has'nt killed your MegaDrive completely :(

what's the problem, i just connect the composite OUTPUT from my megadrive to the composite INPUT from my TV, the same that i use for my NES

Okay, my fault :)
I thought you were talking about the power supply ;)
(think it's bedtime for me)

is the adapter AC, or DC? if it's AC, not good!

DC, and the polarity is correct, i guess it's just broken

how loud is the buzzing? cause the amp does have a small hum to it...
it could also be the power supply is dead..

de buzzing is really loud, even at volume 0
and the source is good, i measured it

did you measure the amperage load that the supply handled? that's not an easy test to do.. that's what im worried about.. im worried the supply isn't handling the load...

okay, i loaded the supply with some powerresistors and it's idd broken, now i have another 9V, 1A that i tested and is good and guess what, i have sound.
still no image though, the composite video output gives nothing
So before i open it up, can this be caused by the power supply?

if the sound is clear, it's not the power supply.. test the RF out first.. if that works, the composite video is working, but you may have the pinouts wrong..

the sound is clear, but it has no RF output
