Is it worth the Buy it now price? Seems just a tad too much for me.

Just a tad high. I have that game and while it is an excellent scaler, it is tough as nails. Tougher, maybe!

Is this like the run 'n' gun of the same name to the Mega Drive?

I found this game at 5euros some years ago... But yes, it is very rare... Some ppl even emailed me to try to buy it after seeing my collection pics LOL.

I heard it could sell over 200usd but 800 is just mad :D

The game itself is great, very very good gfx (almost fullscreen and ultrasmooth scalling), good music, good storyline (with fullscreen FMV intermision) and good gameplay (but too hard to me).

Not the best segacd game (cause of hard gameplay), but certainely the best shaped :)

This is £899, Fonzie. Even madder! £ > $ :)

The US version is kind of uncommon, but not rare, and when it shows up it attracts low prices. I thought the game was OK, but it's not a run and gun, like the MD game.

The European version is fucking rare. I've heard if you want a cheaper copy, get it from Spain, which is where many of the copies known to exist have come from. :)

Thanks. If I get it, it will be the US version

Or if you want the PAL version... get it from Spain. A lot of the rare PAL Mega CD games have come from there.

Question; who would actually be stupid enough to buy the game for that price in the first place?

I can imagine the person selling it has lost a lot of money spending it on their kids or spoiling themselves this Christmas.

That is wild how much the pal adventures of batman and robin will fetch! I just bought a u.s. copy of the game a few weeks back, and while it's a good game, it's far too hard for my total enjoyment. I would have really loved to have some different difficulty settings. I guess it's hard for me to even think about paying some of those sky high prices for this game.... especially when the domestic version here can be had easily for under 10 bucks.

That's just redonkulous. Does anyone specifically know why it's so rare over in Europe?

Because it was a late release, and Europe had a smaller Mega CD market. If you really want a PAL copy, I'd suggest looking in Spain or mainland/contentinal Europe, as word has it that most all copies have surfaced from there. And hell, most rare PAL Sega games have come from spain, or mainland Europe, Except the Sega Classics Release of Robocop vs. Terminator for the Sega Master System. In which every copy known has come from Belgium.

Wow. I'm guessing it's eBay idiocy? Any reason for the double jewel case, perhaps some bonus disc not included in the US release?

All PAL Mega CD games have double jewel case. I don't know why.

The manual fits fine in a standard CD case, I've tried. The pack-in games for the Mega-CD model 1 (Sol-Feace and that helicopter shootemup?) were both packed in one double case - so I'd imagine mass-producing the same kind of case would be cheaper than producing a x number of double cases for the multidisc games and y number of single CD discs.

Double jewel case was standard for all systems not using the DVD-style case. I think this was enforced to separate video games from regular CDs to avoid confusion. It was pretty dumb, and lasted up until the Dreamcast.

That is not entirely true. Most PAL-PlayStation games came in a special thicker single jewel case, but not a double jewel case. Strangely the double (and triple and quadro)cases were used for some 1 disc games such as Tomb Raider.

Yeah, I remember Syphon Filter 3 came with a double-sized case just because the manual was really thick for some reason, and they decided to throw in a full-color pamphlet describing every weapon in the game. Now imagine my surprise when it had the same size case as Syphon Filter 2 (a two-disc game) and only had one disc. I was an easily confused young man at times.

i have 13 PAL mega cd games and not one manual would fit securely in a regular jewel case. they should have just used dvd style boxes with a tall manual. if anything though the PAL cases are very tough and give space for my backup copy of my most played games.

I do have an original PAL copy of this game. I spent 23 for it some years ago, far after the Mega CD timeline ended, so I think this one was already very sought after.

Despite its ridicuolus prizing, I have always had the intention of keeping it in my collection for some reason. Perhaps due to being a fan of the character.
