View Full Version : Differences in (model 2) composite hookups?

The composite a/v cable I have now connects to the Genesis with three pins. I'd always assumed that this was because it had one pin for composite video and one for each audio side, with the other pins being for RGB and stuff. But now I'm looking to buy another one, and I'm seeing ones on ebay that plug in all 9 pins. They're still regular ol' stereo a/v cables, but they have 9 pins instead of 3.

What does that mean? Could it possibly make any difference?

Here's an example.

No difference, they just used a standard DIN connection instead of a custom 3-pin connection.

So it means they're probably third party ones?

I would say so, yes. Unless Sega changed later on, because my Sega model 2 cables that came with my 32X had two pins, one for composite and the other for mono audio.
