When it comes to obtaining games CIB, I'm not very picky. I only go after the games I want to play, I dont just collect everything. Normally I'm just fine with getting a bare cart that works, especially since I can't afford to pay for the most desirable condition.

In a few cases, I miss having the manuals. I miss a bit of the story, or just can't figure out exactly how something in the game works. Gamefaqs.com helps in some cases.

My question is this: is it wrong to simply ask if someone can scan their manual, or if they have one in electronic form already that they can email? If I can prove that I own the actual game, there are no legal or moral issues that complicate things, correct? Would people be willing to help with that or is it considered bad form to ask people to open up their collections?

Thanks,

Errr... by the way... my current object of desire is the manual for Beyond Oasis.

Many people need manuals and boxes, some collectors go to an expensive print shop to get one done up correctly, and looks legit, there is no moral "code" since the instruction books are just that... paper, without the games they are worthless, Character images are protected yes, but I myself love manuals more then the games themselves, especially guides, quick memories!

Hi nik, thanks for the feedback.

I've come across that site, and altho its down, I'm pretty sure from the google cache that they don't carry the one I'm looking for. D'oh!!

My only hope now is to find someone who's willing to scan a copy from their own collection. Of course, who still has a scanner these days...I sure as heck don't.

Its times like these that I wish there was a store selling old Genesis stuff in the surrounding towns, but I've got zilch.

Check eBay.. I've often found loose manuals i needed in lots, or loose.

Sometimes they are expensive... 5$ or so, but it's worth it if you really need it.

When it comes to Genesis, and any non-32bit and up system, I usually don't care about a manual, well unless the game needs it, like a fighting game, or if it is really complex -- like Herzog Zwei.

That reminds me, I remember when I was looking for a Virtua Fighter 32X manual, there was none on ebay at the time, but I got one via Genesis Knight, and when I went on ebay tonight to look at some of my favorite sellers, I saw that one of them had like five of them! Nuts...

Still holding out for a Herzog Zwei manual.
