What kind of music do you people listen here at Sega-16? I myself have been listening to alot of Queensryche lately. Operation Mindcrime is a masterpiece!

Oh, that's not a fair question at all. I could spend all day posting in this topic.
Short answer: I listen to almost everything. The only things I absolutely refuse to listen to are country/western and rap.
Long answer: Well, I listen to a lot of things. I was raised on classic rock and classical music (the colloquial use of the term "classical music," meaning anything before the modern era.) As such, I'm still a big fan of both.
As I've aged, my musical tastes have expanded somewhat, but most of what I listen to has its roots planted firmly in rock or classical, sometimes both. Lately I've been listening to a lot of indie rock. Especially my absolutely favorite indie rock band, Pro Audio (http://www.proaudioband.com). (Their entire first and only album is free for the download. Check it out!) I've also been listening to a lot of the Flaming Lips and the Fiery Furnaces, with some Decemberists and Architecture in Helsinki thrown in for good measure.
I'm also something of a fan of jam rock. I tend to just stick to Phish, the String Cheese Incident, and the Grateful Dead, though. Oh, and a bit of Keller Williams.
As far as classic rock goes, my favorite bands are Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Jethro Tull. Oh, and David Bowie. And Kansas. I can't forget Kansas. I also listen to the Who a good deal, but not nearly as much as the afformentioned bands. Oh, and some Hendrix, of course.
As for other music, I keep an eye on the video game remixing scene, I enjoy some video game soundtracks, and I'm a big fan of Hideki Naganuma. The man is a genius. There's just nothing else to it. He's a mad genius.

Hmm, I can't believe I forgot to mention Boston. One of my all-time favorite bands of any genre. Somehow slipped my mind. Oo, and Blind Melon.
I should have mentioned, I generally prefer my music to be upbeat and cheerful-sounding. And to completely contradict that, I also like menomena and the Black Mages.
And I forgot Get Him Eat Him. I usually don't enjoy lyrics very much, but GHEH has some of the most poetic lyrics I've ever heard. Chock full of alliteration and half-rhymes. Not to mention how much I love their flowing, meandering song structures.

Good choices! I'm a metalhead too. I'm gonna see Testament on Jan 27th!
Though '80s is good I like more modern stuff like Opeth, Wintersun, Ensiferum, Kamelot, Pagan's Mind, Helloween, Conception, and others. I prefer the older metallica from '83 to like '90 or so.

I like pretty much all styles except country and rap, though there might be a few (very, very few) exceptions I will make when it comes to rap. I try not to limit myself to liking only certain genres, but country and rap are very difficult for me to enjoy.

The two genres I listen to most are heavy metal (Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Hammerfall) and progressive rock (Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd).

uhh last time I checked Helloween are not to modern. I seen them on sold old tapes of Headbangers ball from 1991. I seen Opeth this past summer at the Gigantour festival. They were pretty decent. Lamb of God was awesome!!

I've never taken up the time to really play favorites with music, like I do with video games. I listen to what is on the radio, and a lot of game music. I do like anything... but, there's next to no country I like, and the rap songs I like I could probally count on my hands and toes.
I also like a lot of Japanese music. BUT, I'm not an anime, or japanese fanboy. There's not many Japanese things that I really like.

I am quite the eclectic one when it comes to this. It really depends on what I feel like listening to except for country and most rap. Some of the older rap I will tolerate, but one song I will listen to REM and the next I may put Metalliica in.

I am a jazz man myself, so...
Miles
Coltrane
Brecker
Sonny Rollins
Charlie Parker
Dizzy Gillespie
John McLaughlin
etc
also a bit of classic rock like Santana, Grateful Dead, Beatles, Rolling Stones...
I love techno music. Some of my fav artists are DJ Sasha, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy and a ton of others. Heck, sometimes I just put in a WipeOut game CD in my CD-ROM drive so I can listen to the beats.
I'm also huge on '80s music. Best decade ever.
As for artists, I like a lot. Journery, Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls, Link Park, Switchfoot, Weird AL (dude is THE MAN) and lot of others.
I also like Christian and Gospel music. Some of my fav artists are Anotinted, Commisioned, Fred Hammond and a lot of others.
I like just about anything from 1977 and beyond, as long as it isn't country or rap. I'm really into The Birthday Massacre ( http://www.thebirthdaymassacre.com/ ) at the moment. Chibi is so hot. :)

I'd generally split what i listen to into these groups:
Techno, Rock and (for lack of a better catagory) Industrial.
Techno:
Kraftwerk (getting into this a little
New Order
Technotronic (ahh memories)
Daft Punk
Chemical Brothers
Lords of Acid
Prodigy
Crystal Method
Rock (in some various forms):
Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana
Foo Fighers
AC/DC
Heart
Fleetwood Mac
Van Halen
Industrial:
Revolting Cocks
Ohgr
And the cornerstone group of my collection:
KMFDM (I own all their CD's and singles up to this point, even remasters).
Also the almighty Weird Al, which i'm pretty sure i have all of his albums.
Thems the biggies that I listen to, but there are other artists that i listen to that I only have one CD by.

Just found that old thread. On my mp3 player i have rock (classics from the 80/90s), pop, 80s wave, all good songs from roxette and a lot of house music.
I am also working as dj over here playing elektro and vocal house as well as drum n base.

Roxette ruled back in the day.
Lately I'm not listening to music at all... After I successfully recorded a mp3 disc to go in the car, I've only been listening to Gradius, TF, SoR, Axelay, After Burner and Giga Wing soundtracks!
I listen melodic metals, hard rock, italo disco, (super)eurobeat, lots of videogame music. I dislike 99% of rap, jazz, trance and lot of other genres.

I have a fairly broad taste in music, but there's also a lot of stuff I don't like. I enjoy alternative rock, punk, electronica, old-school rap, underground hip-hop, trip-hop, new wave, post-punk/gothic, grunge, industrial, electroclash, "dance rock" (such as Electric Six), funk, big beat, rave, electro, chiptunes, and cheesy 90's dance music. Many of those, I enjoy, but haven't really put the effort into "getting into" them. I dislike country, pop, jazz, blues, singer-songwriter type music, folk, ambient, swing, gangsta rap, mainstream rap in general, downtempo, chillout, and some other genres I'm forgetting. I sometimes enjoy, or am on the fence about metal, prog rock, glam rock, classic rock, synthpop, trance, reggae, ska, jungle, house, dub, happy hardcore, jungle, mod music, gabber, breakbeat, garage, and disco. Many of those I don't like in general, but there are exceptional artists that I do enjoy, or in some cases I haven't really formed an opinion.
Bands/artists I really like:
Bis
Devo
Pearl Jam
Faith No More
Electric Six
Freezepop
Rage Against the Machine
Kraftwerk
Garbage
Ok Go
Cirrus
Anti-Flag
MC Lars
Nine Inch Nails
Social Distortion
The Start
Gorillaz
BS 2000
Dandy Warhols
Flobots
Gravy Train!!!!
Rancid
Meat Beat Manifesto
Primal Scream
Siouxsie & the Banshees
Iron Lizard

I'm surprised you've even heard of The Start. I think Dandy Warhols and Faith No More are more popular on the west coast. Devo and Kraftwerk have pretty large cult followings, but their fans do tend to be outside the mainstream. Siouxsie & the Banshees, though, was a pretty popular band in their time, and they were one of the headliners at the first Lollapalooza, so I don't know why you don't know anyone who likes them.

I accidentally ran across the video for gorgeous on M2 years ago and am very happy I did. Ran our got the CD and it rocked. Good stuff. Reminds of if Devo, Depeche mode and Garbage had a baby.

Bad Brains is horribly inconsistent. Some of their early work is amazing, but some of their other stuff is just crap. Although, I would really like to hear what they were like with Chuck Moseley on vocals.

I think most of Bad Brains stuff was amazing, but I could see how someone could say it was inconsistent. The different styles and sounds were all over the place. I didn't care for Mosely. Probably because I think H.R was one of the greatest vocalists of all time, even though I've heard he was a complete ass.

Your right they did great crappy and way to produced later on but those first albums are freaking amazing.
Years ago when I was 14 they played at a little venue here called The Dpc. They were just hanging out outside. Being retarded 14 year olds we asked if they would let us in for free and they said "Sure man"
I never knew Moseley sung for them. Everyone seems to hate that guy but I think Faith No More wrote better music when he was singing for them. I never understood what was so great about Patton. His voice sucks just as much.
