View Full Version : Mega Man Battle Network 6 (make them stop, please!)
From GameSpot:
Company doesn't let up on its annual action RPG series; two versions set for winter release in Japan.
It's been a tradition for Capcom to release a Mega Man Battle Network game on the Game Boy Advance every year, and 2005 will be no exception. The company officially announced today that it is currently developing Mega Man Battle Network 6, which is slated for release in Japan at the end of the year.
In Mega Man Battle Network 6, the player will once again take the role of the series' main character, Lan. Lan's father is transferred at work, forcing the family to move to a town called Cyber City. Lan will have to say farewell to his old neighborhood and explore his new digs, all while finding places to jack in to the Net to battle as his cyber alter ego, Mega Man.
Like the last three editions of the series, Capcom will be releasing two versions of Mega Man Battle Network 6 that follow the same storyline but have slightly different features, such as enemies or powers available to Mega Man. Images on the Japanese promotional Web site show two altered Mega Mans, which most likely reflect the two versions.
Capcom is labeling Mega Man Battle Network 6 as the "Series' Climax," suggesting that, in some capacity, it will be the last Battle Network for the time being.
I really hope they lay off them for a while. If you're going to make a MM game, why not Legends 3?

Megaman Legends 3? A gift from the heavens. Megaman Battle Network 6? Born from Satan's colon.

I've skipped all of the Battle Network Series, and I'm really glad I did considering the fact that I get addicted to series easily, I probably would have bought them all. Luckily the Zero series has been around, and it's been pretty awesome.
And yes, we NEED a legends 3. Capcom has shown some slight interest in the series with the ports of 1 and 2 to the PSP, but I don't see how those are going to do anything but damage the reputation of the series, especially considering that neither were big critical successes when they were first released. Capcom is still one of my favorite developers, but sometimes they don't seem to have a clue.

I thought Command Mission was meant to make up for Legends 3.
In any case, I want a new Tron Bonne game.

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne is hugely awesome. No matter how sour the mood, that game makes me smile. I'm amazed the Legends series even got as far as it did, considering the sinkhole of creativity Capcom has become with regard to the Megaman franchise. ..although I hear Command Mission is fairly cool.

CM is way too short Drixxel good but short....15 hours short, compared to RPGs now adays that is just lackluster time and Capcom...
Enough with BM, (starts crying) it's gonna kill Keiji Inafune's sacred frachise of games
Some disappointing news from Next Gen:
In a July 10th lecture at the Japanese special computer school Trident, Sotsu explained the relationship between his company, IntiCreates, and Capcom; when Sotsu and twelve companions left Capcom, to form an independent team. For a while things didn't go as well as they planned. Then at one point they joked with Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune about wanting to make yet another Mega Man sequel. He took them seriously, and "thus, the [Mega Man] Zero series [was] born." Unusually for a commission project, the Zero games were IntiCreates' own idea. Capcom had nothing to do with the premise or design.
What is more curious is Sotsu's conversations with Iwafune, that he chose to relay to the audience. According to Sotsu, neither the Mega Man Legends nor the original Mega Man series will be continued any further. When IntiCreates submitted proposals to extend each series, Inafune vetoed the suggestions. "I won't make it in the future," he said.
Food for thought, for those encouraged by the upcoming Legends port for PSP.
According to Melf, not a single dime of my money will be spent on anything Mega Man from now on. Fuck you Capcom.

Reading that makes me fucking furious.

Legends 3 could be in the bloody works right now if not for this misguided asshat! I find it hard to believe that this is the man who created the damned franchise.

what about the MM-X collection?
or will that be the last?
The MMX series has been on a slide with the last few releases, and I always preferred the original to it. I was really looking forward to a new Legends game, and the PSP port seems to be a big "ha-ha" on Capcom's part.
This reminds me of Kojima saying he won't return to Santcher/Policenauts because they represent the past, and he wants to "concentrate on the future." Of course, by that he means 600 Metal Gear games! :bull:

But isn't Metal Gear older than Snatcher and Policenauts?
That isn't really concentrating on the future...

There should be another Strider game thats for sure

Exactly.
I mean, shit, if he's not going to give us a new one, then rerelease the originals. Supposedly, Policenauts was all translated and ready for release on the U.S. Saturn, but Konami inexplicably canned it.
At least give us a rerelease of Snatcher. The game's already translated and voice work's done. Why the hell not?

Metal Gear is older, Metal Gear Solid isn't. Metal Gear Solid sold millions. Kojima likes his money pit.

I think Capcom has broken their own record here. They have made at the very least 8 Battle Network games in 4 years.

Mega Man Battle Network may as well not even be associated with the Mega Man name. At least Legends has you running around, jumping, and shooting in real time.

Hm, seems that quote may have been a mistranslation. The guys at a megaman messageboard seem to think so anyway. According to them Inafune merely rejected Inticreates specific proposals, so more classic series and legends games might come around, but not yet. Which makes sense as Inafune not too long ago made a comment about how he did want to make a legends 3.
