Best Gamepad for Gens

My very old MS Sidewinder gamepad is finally wore out after about 8 years of use :D Can anyone recommend a replacement pad for playing Gens? I love the feel and button lay out and compatibility of the pad. I'll probably end up buying another one but was wondering if anyone prefers a different pad. I'm not sure what is all out there since I have used this pad for so many years.

I personally like the basic 6-button Sega controller for everything other than fighting games. For those, I prefer the arcade style pads.

I am talking about Gens the Sega emulator on my computer. But I agree that the Sega 6 button pad for Genesis is awesome.

I don't really enjoy emulation. I find a certain pride in collecting games, and having them be the actual originals.

Is there some kind of adapter that'll let you use a standard 6-button pad on your PC? I know that Sega was to release a Saturn pad that was USB-compatible. That would rock for Gens.

I agree that having the original game is awesome. I do have lots of Genesis carts and all my Sega CD's are real I play in Gens. I do however find the games even better in an emulator. The graphics rock in 2X Kree mode and actually look much better on a computer monitor than a tv. And being able to save anytime playing any game is so awesome! And things like net play and screen shots are great. The sound too is always in stereo without having to horse with a/v cables.

Sadly my real Genesis and Sega CD sit in my closet since Gens came out. Genecyst was so awesome when it came out. And when Gens came out with the sega cd support I was hooked.

That would be great to use a real Sega Genesis 6 button pad though if there really is an adapter.

I use a duel X-Arcade stick for Gens but I mostly still play the real thing. It just doesnt feel right playing them on a PC.

Then play them on an Xbox via Neo Genesis with either a controller-S or a Saturn pad w/ magic box converter. Playing Genesis/32X/CD games on a 50 inch HDTV w/ component cables and DD5.1 is a beautiful thing. :cool:

If you really want a saturn pad for your PC it's been out for awhile. I did a simple google search and found several stores:

Problem is that the cheapest they're listed for is $35.
If you're willing to purchase a PC magic box for $19.99 instead and just use your own Saturn, PSX, or DC pad then you have that option aswell:

Just got my Xbox modded. Waiting for my friend to burn me some Genesis stuff. And yes, I've got a magic box and Saturn pads and DD5.1.

Make sure to tell your friend to get you the "Big Ass Emulator Disc" that has 14 emus & 14,500 roms on 1 DVD; and to checkout FBA.XXX for MAME because arcade perfect emulation on your Xbox is too cool to pass up! :cool:
