How do you remove a CD player? I have a aftermarket deck in my car, and right now it is acting up, so how would I pop it out? I don't need to remove the mounting kit, which is required for my car -- my radio and climate control are ONE.
I'm just curious as my deck no longer works and I think something came loose. I dunno really... but I see there is a removal tool for kenwood decks, and I don't think I have it anymore.

I think there is a tool you use that you need to slide down the sides and it pops out. I am middle-class suburban, so I have never stolen a car radio.

I remember hearing about a tool you could use to remove a car radio...
What was the name of that thing...

....oh yeah, a chainsaw.
Seriously, I don't really know. My current car came with a player (a good one too) and my old car had one in it briefly, but I remember that being easy as hell to install and remove.

my car is a 94 Chevy Caprice Classic, and the stereo in it (JVC, high end CD player with CD-Text, etc), doesn't even play CDs anymore itself, and most of the buttons have developed being sticky for some odd reason..
i see NO way of removing it too, but it obviously was at some point... check the manual, or service manual, it may say how to do it..
in my case, the stereo sits in an adapter, as the dashboard normally holds the BIG style radios, not the half size ones..

Turns out a fuse was blown. And the Speedometer got fixed - the damn speed sensor (...argh) was acting up again.
All is well, and it didn't cost a cent to fix.
