View Full Version : Interest Check Genesis 1 w/ switches.
I have several model 1 genesis systems. I was considering adding Language and NTSC/PAL switches to them before selling them.
Would anyone be interested?

to not confuse anyone you might want to call it a "region switch". A lot of people new to the whole thing tend to think a region switch translates the language... so saying "language switch" may confuse them more.

Agreed, but in some games it does actually change the language. Daimakaimura ; Ghouls & ghosts =)

I'd pay between $10-20 dor a system, only if they had the connections and where cleaned up a bit.

I normally charge $15 for a system, but I'm also asking if it had Region/Language switches installed as well. This allows for play of US and Japanese games.

Where would these switches be located? Would they be well hidden or coming out the side/back of the console?

I like putting them on the back of the console.
I've seen picutres of people putting them on the top ont he round part of the Sega Genesis 1. it looks cool and all, but may be a little disruptive. (Master Converter).
I was thinking just doing the language switch though. I don't relaly see much use for the PAL/NTSC switch unless your in europe.

Totally agree... Genny's are so easy to get over there anyways that they could just do the Region Switch themselves. How many Europeans do we have here anyway?

Dunno, but it saves $3 in parts and some more in labor to just skip the second switch.
I have pictures of how I installed the switch (just the outside for now). If anyone is interested PM me your email address and i"ll email the pictures. When I have more time I'll post it on my website.

Well if someone is a collector, and would rather pick up (cheaper) PAL UK or AU games (instead of Japanese ones), then PAL games are the way to go. 3 dollars for a switch is great compared to 30 dollars for a Key that allows for playing of PAL/NTSC games.
Ok, I already have all the equiptment to make the modifications, I've already made one (for me!!!) and will do the mods upon request. I have plenty of v1 systems to do this with.
v1 System No mod $15,
v1 System w/ one of the Switches $25
v1 System with Both Switches $30.
All prices in USD$

Here are the pictures of where I put the switches. This is the one with just the Language/Region switch. When I mod one with both, I'll put up pictures of those too!
