This only saw a limited release, and I was wondering if any of you guys had the fortune to buy one in its prime (or after, for quite a sum of money) they go for quite a bit of green... anyone know how much it would be?

Usually a Sega CDX goes for $100 or more on Ebay. I got lucky and bought one off some sucker along with a 256 MB RAM stick for my computer for a total of $35 shipped! :P

That's one of the plus sides of ebay... full of morons that don't know proper pricing.

I got my CDX with the original box and hookups along with 12 games for a grand total of $132 before shipping.
without the box, you can get one for about $80 if you know where /how to look.

I drooled over them when they were new. And I had a friend that had one back in the day, we logged many hours of Ground Zero Texas, Eternal Champions, and Lunar on it. I was quite jelous then.
Luckily the day would come that I would finally own one. I scored one for $30 about a year and a half ago, or so. In VERY good condition I might add!
Now the Nomad on the other hand, I bought that sucker new from Babbages back in the day for the hefty sum of $189.99 I believe. Still have it too.

I got mine off eBay for about $80. I had Tiido do the SMS mod, 50/60Hz mod, and replace the backlight with LEDs. Maybe one day I'll get the LCD replaced.

I got one at a flea market for $25, but the CD laser needs to be re-aligned. Also needs an AC adapter. At the current moment it wont read discs.

I picked one up a while back locally for about $50 and I love it. It takes up so little space and I actually like the sound quality much better than my model 1 HDG Genesis.
The only real downside for me is that I don't think that the video output on the CDX is shielded very well from internal RF interference. I'm using a scart to component adapter coming out of the CDX's din output and I still see a bit of interference coming from the unit itself.

I own two. One was free the other from eBay mint in box with about 12-13 CIB Sega CD games and Lethal Enforcers (Gen) but the only thing missing is the stereo audio video cable from keeping it CIB (the CDX came with one). At least it came the power supply. The free one did not have a working one.

Trade a Nintendo DSlite for a CDX with 27 games, Two 3 button controllers, 1 Arcade controller and 5 Sega CD games... Best trade EVER!! That was about 3 years ago, and CDX is still running strong! Love it!

Great console. I have one and enjoy it, but I prefer my X'Eye because of superior sound.

I got mine about a year ago with about 20 games and the wrong AC adapter for about $100, picked up a proper replacement adapter a couple months ago thanks to a thread on here talking about the right voltage. I actually don't use it that often and mainly stick with my M1 Genny plus M2 SegaCD since they make a nice combo on my desk. :)

Thats cause this thread is 6 years old.
No, but I own a Multimega. Same thing, but twice as expensive.

Is the Multi-Mega more rare? Is it true that they only sold 5,000 CDX consoles? What about 1,000,000 Nomads? For some reason both of those numbers seem unrealistic. I have also heard that 10,000 X'Eyes were sold. Of course all of this is Internet hearsay.

Well, ANYONE can do necromancy on a thread that's 3 to 15 months old... it takes REAL TALENT to resurrect a thread that's SIX YEARS old.

The original post should be corrected.
The CDX was hardly a limited release in the US. Every major Sega retailer had their shelves stocked with them.
Sears, Service Merchandise, Montgomery Ward, and Toys R Us all had the system marked down to $50 before they were able to clear their stock of them.
