Is there anything I can do to make the connection more solid? I bought some RCA cables and the connection is not solid at all.

Damage the cable. What I mean by that is give the phallic-shaped prong a slight bend in any direction, and squeeze the outer metal so it is slightly smaller, all resulting in a tighter fit. Yay!

Will that really work? I have some cheapy RCA cables lying around I got at the dollar store to see how that works.
You see, I got a damn good deal on some Monster Xbox Component Cables... I paid $12.99 for a set, compared to the MS...thingy that's $90 used on egay.

It might help. I've done it on some older cables. Hopefully the Monsters are the kind where the outer ring is divided into four sections instead of just one big round piece of metal. That way it won't turn into an oval when you squish it.
MS Xbox Component Cables going for $90??????

OK, I pressed the cable in tight, and I got all of 'em, except the red audio plug. I'm giving Monster Cable a NASTY phone call monday. This is bullshit.

i think it's the optical emitter they have for dolby digital..
still too expensive, but that's M$

Fixed it! Talked to tech support, and turns out they are designed to have a tight fit. As for the plug that wouldn't go in. I ripped half of the metal ring off with some pliars, and now it fits still very snug.

Nah, because the S-video pack has the same thing. TOS-Link jacks seem to be very cheap.

that's what i figured...
i got mine for $30 on Amazon, new, last-gen Xbox 1 Component HD cables.. (early gen had a breakout box, last gen were built like 360 cables)

Yeah. I like the breakout boxes personally since you can use your own super-high quality cables from Homo Depot.

the built in one that i got, actually has good cables.. i think they are Monster cables that are merely re-branded... they are heavy, and have good shielding (when it comes to 1080i, the shielding does help)

Doesn't matter to me since I have the Pelican Component Video Switcher and that introduces its own noise at 1080i. I keep hoping that one of these days someone good will make a high quality component video switcher with at least 8 inputs (all with optical) that doesn't break the bank. Damn active switchers.... Passive is better but unfortunately can be controlled with a remote.

i got a passive one.. and it introduces noise even at 480i.. so i mainly use that for things like PS2 and DVD Recorder, and Xbox.. The other Component jack on my TV is dedicated to the Cable TV line... (HD cable)

Isn't the term "HD Cable" an oxymoron due to the crazy amounts of compression?

actually, on Bright House Cable, for my local area, the compression is so low, that sometimes I get a blocky picture.. my cable provider shoots to make Satellite look like SDTV..
