And how many of these members actually have a post history?

Shhhhh!
And how many of these members actually have a post history?
Eh, that happens on a lot of forums. People register and don't post for months, if at all.
Personally, I'd rather have 50-100 people who post regularly than hundreds who register and don't post at all.

Well done Melf. And you've got a pretty healthy posting community here, so the rest aren't that big of deal. A bonus, if you will.

Can someone tell me why my account hasn't been activated? I can't start new threads.
Mr Smith

You need to have posted five times in order to make new threads. This was to stop the spambots making threads offering us new mobile phones for cheap prices.

Thanks Mr Smith

I have posted 7 times and I still can't start new threads!
Does anyone know why?
Because you need to post ten times, not five. :)

I recently noted that many of the newcomers' nicknames are just a bunch of random letters and they never post anything. To be precise, 539 (more than 1/3 of all forum members) hasn't posted one single time. Why is this? Maybe they are spambots trying to make threads. I think forum members should be deleted if they don't post at all.

To me, the supposed 400+ active forum members is much more impressive than the 1,000+ total members.

To me, it doesn't "feel" like we have 400 "active forum members". Maybe 400 who visits and read posts, but not post any themselves. Regular posters would be less than half of that, I think. Also, the forum statistics are clearly incorrect, which has been stated before.
The active member statistic reflects the number of register users that have logged in at least once over a specified time, not who has posted or not, so it's correct.
Spam bots will always register; there's no way around that. We now have it set up that none of them can spam the board, but they will always continue to register. That's something no forum can avoid. I plan to just go at the end of the year and prune those users who haven't made a single post in the past six months. That should reduce the number of spam accounts greatly, and it's something that I'll have to do consistently.

Good Luck, it will take some time.

There are about 15 of these jerks joining everyday now, its really annoying to see, "newest member" then some trashy keyboard mashed letters beside it, doesn't give any indication of a new member to the community.

Hi everybody.
Greetings from Brazil !!!
I'm very happy to have registered myself today.
Sega-16 is an awesome website and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be one of my favorites from now on --- I found it by accident, while browsing for some pictures for Darius II (Sagaia).
I just started a new collection of classic games. Mostly, of course, related to the best console ever, and you know what I'm talking about.

Well, I'm sure you can count a pretty high numbers of "watching but not posting" lurkers hanging around in this forum as well.
Sometimes, they decide to come out of the jungle and join the pack. It happens (I gotta know, I'm one of them ;) )
