Hey,

Love the site, but wouldn't it look nice if you'd use the old Sonic, Knuckles, (and
Tails!) and Robotnik graphics from the time Sonic 1,2,3 were out? Instead of the
new style, which I personally don't like :p ?

I remember when the logo first came along, I didn't like it for that reason, but it's grown on me.

I've said that before. Melf told me it was hard to find old school Sonic artwork to use.

i could make one if you guys want.. could do it for free too..

i'd make multiple versions also, and you guys can chose the best ones..

i could only do the top banner though..

This topic has been discussed off/on... in every instance, Melf has clearly stated that he's quite satisfied with the look.

Believe me, I understand where some of you are coming from -- but really, is it THAT big of a deal? Does it make you dislike S16 any less?

evildragon: I am sure he wouldn't object to whatever concept images you have in mind, but Sega-16 has retained this look for several years now -- and the majority of the community here are content with it.

Speaking as the assistant "designer" I actually considered introducing a retro theme, however I don't have access to the .psd version used by the web designer.

Who says the Sonic series has to represent Sega? These days it's almost like putting George W. Bush and his administration as the site mascot. I say the new graphics should be.... BIO HAZARD BATTLE!

No it's a great analogy. Sonic is hated just about as much these days.

Yeah, I'm not fond of the new Sonic design for the banner myself, but it's no big deal. Really, I'd love for Sega 16 to do a rotating banner featuring Alex Kidd, Gilius Thunderhead, Opa Opa, ToeJam & Earl, and other 16-bit mascots of that era... not just Sonic.

Nice.

Appreciate the effort - - I discussed it with Ken and we came up with a new "retro" banner that should be more fitting for all the enthusiasts here at Sega16. It will be live shortly. :)

Even though they're later designs, I've always thought the current sega-16 graphics went well with the "sleekness" of the site.

Yeah, it's great, and the choices blend in better than I expected as far as art styles go. Would love to see a few more in random rotation. :)

That is an EXCELLENT idea. If Landstalker can figure out how to set up some css scipts which can rotate the top banners to be random, I am sure a lot of ppl would dig that too. It wouldn't be difficult for me to come up different variations of the banner with other SEGA characters.

I don't like how the volume is down on that Genesis. It should be all the way up at all times. No wonder your banner was rejected. :)

i think the volume should be at a steady 7-8 ;) any higher and the Genesis becomes louder than everything else! :P

I'd go with changing the banners on a regular basis (monthly, weekly, etc) as opposed to randomnly with each visit.

What we should do is have a funny/odd Genesis-related tagline that changes on each visit like Toonami Digital Arsenal. I love those things.

That wasn't supposed to be a banner, it's from and OLD thread about those Ultimate Guides from DK so I made a quick MSPaint version of the book Ken will write one day.

You also get the old banner if you are logged out.
