I just played this game a little. Just one of those titles that I never got around to try eventhough Ive had it for ages. Turned out to be a rather nifty little platformer/adventure game.

Reminds me slightly o flashback, but im not going to pretend that it anywhere near as good.

Still, It kept me coming for more and finaly ive reached the 3:rd stage going on 4:th.

Interesting story and concept eventhough the controlls and interface are well...bad.

Never played it, although have been outbid on ebay for it on many occasions. Won't be rushing to pick up a copy either.

Would be an awesome game if it weren't for the fact that it ends when you think it was barely getting started.

Im raving mad. Still at level 3 trying to collect all 3 conductor parts in order to get past the teleporter to the 2:nd generator room.

Every time I play i do get a little furter. And just now I managed to snag the last part, only to be killed 2 seconds later by one of the mutants.

This game hav a nasty habit of throwing enemies at that are very hard to avoid. Good thing I just recently figured out that I can activate a shield ^^

Looks like it comes in a paper box. Am I right?

Just put a bid on a copy. It has been far too long since I bought a Mega Drive game. I'll let you know what I think if I win it, if it arrives and if I can be bothered to play it when it gets here.

I also realise that I look a fool after saying "Won't be rushing to pick up a copy either" in my eariler post.

After some extensive research (browsing through eBay when I should really have been working) Mega Turrican and that game that's very similar to Elite (Homeworld? Something like that) came in paper boxes, with big instructions and plastic trays for the cartridges, similar to PC games of the time. Hardly surprising, as they're PC ports in the first place.

I think they were UK-only, as I've not seen anything like them on foreign eBay listings.

edit: Codemasters' 'Psycho Pinball' came with a card slipcase on top of the regular plastic box, too. Not sure whether that's PAL-only or not.

I see. I think it is a UK thing then since my Turrican copy is in a plastic case.

As for that other game (Star Controll?), I know that Accolade released a lot of games in paper boxes before they (or after) had plastic ones as the case was with Bubsy. But I dont concider those to be proper EU releases since the cover mentions both Genesis and Mega Drive. And later got some stickers stating that the manual comes in additional European languages aswell.

Afaik Accolade released games using 3 types of boxes. Flimsy Paperbox with cart and manual held in place by folded paper. Much like the N64 boxes used to be. Then a much sturdier contstruction looking like the PC game boxes that you describe. And last, the normal plastic ones.

Might not be in chronological order though.

You're right. There's a copy of Mega Turrican on eBay (seems to be hard to find) in a regular plastic 'blue box', I guess the card copies are a limited release or something.

I don't think so; on the back of Psycho Pinball's cover there is a description and image of two of the four pinball tables, with text telling you to slide the cover down to view other two (on the back of the plastic box, obviously).

I think I played up to lvl 3 or 4 but lost the motivation to continue.. The level design got too frustrating when you had to make perfect jumps with that laser beam device and kept falling into spikes if you messed up.
IIRC the controls were somewhat lacking and the enemies were sometimes positioned for cheap hits. The game reminded me of X-Men.

The terrible cover art has single-handedly kept me from buying it so I tried out the Rom.. :P

The euro games in cardbord boxes are allunlicenced games (example Universal Soldier from Accolade) Later on the situation with sega got resolved and they also started using plastic boxes (e.g. Bubsy the Bobcat)

I played this via emulation. It wasn't a bad game, but the stiff control irked me some.

Generations Lost came in a plastic case for the Megadrive - other PAL released games that came in a cardboard box include:

Super Off Road
Onslaught
Star Control
Turrican
Double Dragon

Did Star Control get a PAL release?
I won a copy of Generations Lost about two weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived.

I've seen plenty of copies of Star Control in the UK, so I assumed it had a UK release, but I suppose it's possible that they were all imported. With the unlicensed games, I'm not sure whether they bothered to do different versions for different regions.

Kid Chameleon is only brilliant if you like it ;) I remember seeing this game BITD in game ads. Always thought it looked lame/generic. Playing it years later confirmed this :p

I really liked KC but it seriously lacked an option to save your progress.

I recently saw Generations Lost at my store, but didn't buy it because I didn't know how it was. Is it worth picking up?

Resurrected for great justice.

I just bought this game and I'm loving it so far. The puzzles are fascinating, the concept is clever and original (quite funny actually, especially when you see people in the background worshiping TVs) and the hookshot mechanic is pretty fun. It really feels like Flashback but with more focus on platforming than cinematic effects. Someone really needs to review this, imo.
