Our favorite Swede has a birthday today! My present to you is a neat little "Site Contributor" icon under your name! It's sure to get to plenty of women! Remember, pimping Sega-16 is the sure-fire way to make the ladies hot!

Happy birthday man! :bday:

Thanks, Melf! What a great present - it is actually the best this far. I've received a book of cooking and 1000 Swedish Kronor. With it, I'm gonna buy some ultr@ r@re Japanese Mega Drive game!

Also, since this is my birthday, I will drink some Pommac. I've been drinking Trocadero and Champis for weeks now, and am getting pretty tired of it!

For a second there, it looked like you said you wanted to drink out of the Potomac (which is a river). Or maybe that you wanted a Pontiac.

Happy birthday. I just feel bad that nobody else wants to participate in your birthday thread. Speaking of which I had better change the birthday in my profile right now so one doesn't pop up when mine rolls around.

EDIT:
Oh crap:

Please contact the Administrator if your date of birth has changed.

Melf, my date of birth has changed! It does that a lot.

 Utterly awesome.

Happy birthday Zebbe. :D
I am still amazed you are not listed here yet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famous_Swedish_people Actually, I'm more amazed by the fact there are that many famous Swedes. Anyway, I digress, have a great day and enjoy your birthday Pommac.

Happy birthday, Zebbe!
Your last year has been quite successfull, becoming a staff-member here and all. What else can happen the next 12 months!?

Congratiulations and good luck for your ultr@ r@re japanese Mega Drive game hunt! May it be more successfull than the pirate hunt!

I don't want a Pontiac. I want a Volvo. But first and foremost I want an apartment. Getting a car when living with my mom is just a big waste of money.

I realize my birthday thread was a bad idea. It's better with a gazillion individual birthday threads, one for each member every year (I have two now :)).

Mr Smith: Sweden is famous for being the little country with small population that still has given so damn much to the world. *proud* I just wish I could contribute to that fact one day.

108 Stars: I'm not a staff member, only a site contributor. I can't possibly live up to the demand of two reviews and two features each month, I must work freely and send in my stuff whenever I want to. Now is summer time with only work and no school, therefor I write as much as I can. In the autumn, it will not be much more than Reader Roundtable for me though.

I just don't know what exclusive ultr@ r@re JPN game to pick up. I already have Panorama Cotton, Undead Line, Monster World IV and await Twinkle Tale and Pulseman. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for congratulating me everyone !!!111101010

Volvos? Just don't expect them to be THAT great in the winter... very overrated. I wouldn't mind an older Volvo 240 wagon - there's still a handfull of them on the road in my area. And in the US, you'll want to own a car when you live with your parents.

I suggest you pickup one of Acclaims games that where sold in Japan, like Batman Forever., they aren't very good, but they are ultr@ r@are!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

I'd go with Twinkle Tale, but I have an odd taste in games :D I've always loved your features (especially the MEGACART one) and look forward to another great year!

Hahaha... Look what my mom found at a market today :D. "Zebbe hunts for treasure". Ironic, isn't it?

David J.: Volvo is originally a Swedish brand, which has a lot of sentimental value to me. And let's not forget they are safe.

I don't want bad games or games that are cheap and easy to get if there is another version. And I don't like Acclaim. Remember, exclusive.

Thanks.

InternalPrimate: I've already ordered Twinkle Tale, am waiting for it.

Wow, thanks, I like your features too. I'll write as much as I can. Have gazillions of ideas in my head :).

GEN ESIS GAMER: Thanks. You have a cool avatar. But I don't get your secret riddle of the space between GEN and ESIS. Please tell me what it means. Is it the increase of one letter for each word, like GEN=3, ESIS=4 and GAMER=5?

Happy Birthday, Zebbe!

Hope you get what you want on the import scene. I don't know any awesome ultr@ r@re japanese games so I can't suggest anything.

Congrats!,

Word. He should scan the cover and make it his avatar. That would rule!

I'll dig out my scanner someday. It will be used for an upcoming feature. I'll change avatar then too, thanks for the idea!

megabomberman: Dude, I'm older than you! ;)

Thanks everyone!

In a metaphorical sense zebbe, strictly a metaphorical sense of course!

Hey, sorry Zebbe I couldn't wish you a happy birthday yesterday, had to watch my baby cousin and didn't get a chance to log on. Well HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY and I hope you will be on the earth another year to grace us with your presence.

Happy birthday Zebbe! And Volvo is one of two car brands I will ever buy, along with Volkswagen.

Check this out zebbe, looks rare to me and the price seems reasonable, could be what you're looking for,

Thanks again, everyone! :)

megabomberman: That auction is a typical example of how hard it is to find ultr@ r@re games. Most that are described as such actually aren't ultr@ r@re - they are lying to rip you off! The Super Shinobi II is pointless to buy in Japanese version if it's that expensive - there are cheaper western versions available, so they are better to pick. There is no point in buying ultr@ r@re games from Japan if:

1) They suck hard.
2) They are released elsewhere.
3) They aren't complete.

Zebbe! I need your advice.

I've always been obsessed with the idea of playing fan-translated games on my SNES. The problem is, I don't get Flash Memory Carts. At all. But after your MegaCart feature, I've been looking for something that would do the same thing, only for SNES. What I've found is the Super Flash card for SNES/Compatible Console from ToToTEK. It doesn't exactly like the MegaCart, but will it get the job done? You seem to be the expert :D

Zebbe

I bought the MD-Pro by Tototek for the exact same reason as you want with your flash card for the SNES, and so far ALL fan-translated games with save has worked splendidly on the MD-Pro. I will tell all about that in my upcoming features about the MD-Pro and all fan-translations of the Mega Drive.

Since Tototek also has a save feature in their Super Flash Card I see no reason why the fan translations of the SNES wouldn't work as good, except for the games that uses enhancement chips which won't work at all. They shouldn't be too many, but Far East of Eden is one of them AFAIK. Then there might be a lock-out problem. I didn't have it with my Mega Drive games, since my console is modded (and no games had the region chip anyway IIRC). You may have to use an adaptor to play your fan-translated games on your console, depending if the games have the lock-out chip or not.

I'd say it is totally worth it anyway. There is bound to be some games that can use the save and that aren't region-locked (some games aren't on the Mega Drive, I don't know how it is with the Super Famicom), out of the over 250 translations available for the SNES/Super Famicom.

Hope that helps. I think things will get even clearer when you read my MD-Pro review and my fan-translation write-up, so tell Melf to send them back to me for final approval :D.

Star Ocean won´t work...and I think Tales of Phantasia and Seken Densetsu 3 have chips inside too.

InternalPrimate
07-09-2007, 05:55 PM
I'm pretty sure Star Ocean is the only game that won't work out of those three. Not that the other 2 matter much to me, I'm REALLY interested in fan-translations of Dragon Quest 5 and 6 (though I'm not sure if 6 ever recieved a full translation) and Bahamaut Lagoon.
