It's been ported to almost every single console you can imagine (I think there's a Game.Con rev somewhere), and Genesis owners were enthralled at the way Out of This World seemed to push their consoles harder than any other game. Even today, the fluidity of the animation and the polygonal cut scenes are something of a marvel, considering the hardware pushing them. Those who own this gem know what I'm getting at, but we've taken the liberty of offering a full review (http://www.sega-16.com/2007/07/out-of-this-world/) to those still not in the know. Read on and get ready to hit eBay.

I always thought this and Flashback were both dreadful and belonged on a computer. Yet I like Blackthorne which I think has similar gameplay.

This is another one of those games I've owned for years but never bothered to play. It looks like I might have to get round to this one at some point.

One of my all-time favorite games, though for once I must say that the Sega
CD version plays better. In fact, I think it's even better than the PC versions.

Yeah i am really into this game. oddly enough i was just thinking about this game a couple days ago. me and my buddy would always joke around and use one of the only lines from it...

the scene where lester and the alien are stuck in the cage, and they start swingin and the guard is like "agusta, agusta!" and we swing and fall on his mellon and as you are about to leave the alien stops you and says...." na su bah..." hahahah too good. yeah i am so playing this tonight.

oh and flashback was just to damn good.

This was the first Genesis game to make me laugh out loud, but there's so much slowdown that it's a little hard to enjoy at times.

I'm still stuck on QUICKY on Flashback and I don't want to play Another World until I finish it :(

Wonderful game, but I definitely prefer the Sega CD version. There's no other way to get Heart of the Alien, and the version of Out of This World that comes on the same disc is better than any other (save perhaps 3DO, I haven't played that one). I do think that Heart of the Alien itself isn't quite as good, but the combination of the two is just bloody awesome.

I would write a review for Heart of the Alien, but I think it would be too gushing. Then again, I could always justify it with that Super Thunder Blade review.

I have had this game in my Snes collection for a while now, but have never gone past the first ten seconds due to the games terrible first impression.
Thanks to this review though,I’ll definitely have to give it another go.

the SNES version sucks, the framerate is slow compared to the Genesis version..

Surprised no one has mentioned the Collector's Edition recently made available on the official website:

Personally, I don't care for the game. The impressive graphics at the time were certainly innovative with its presentation, but it's just not a fun game. The only trial-and-error title worth anything is Panic! :)

i hate this game on the genesis no matter what man it looks like a nes game with good scaling techniques man this looks as ugly only 16 colours in screen max and it just looks horrible like Pifall atri 2600 in a modern jacket,no 91 game looked as good or not many,as far as i know any 1991 game surpasses this esspecialy musha.

I first saw this game as a demo on a buddy's PC at the time. I believe he had a 386 at the time and it ran silky smooth. I was floored by what I saw. It lasted up to the point where the aliens capture you. I got a copy of the demo and tried it on my 10 MHz 8088. It crawled. It'd be years later before I could actually play the game on my Sega CD. Didn't get very far (the elevator) and pretty much gave up.

I played the demo of that version. I thought it was nice, but I prefer its original
looks. I usually play the Sega CD version with Gens, as I own a Mega CD and
don't have a decent converter. I have a CDX but that didn't help either...

By the way, I think the artwork for the Genesis version is nowhere near as good
as Eric Chahi's artwork used with the Mega Drive and PC versions. But at least it's
better than the SNES artwork... Horrible!!!

It has a unique style to it which I think is awesome.. Never had the patience to struggle trough it but it does feel very rewarding when you make progress.
