I just won a 32x (with virtua racing deluxe and cosmic carnage) on ebay, and my local retro gaming shop has basically the whole library of 32x games (minus the most rare of games), and i was wondering which games would be the best to buy. I already plan on picking up star wars arcade and maybe doom. They dont have knuckles chaotix however.

Well, not to plug myself too shamelessly, but I consider Afterburner and Shadow Squadron to be two of the most enjoyable 32X games, and I have them both for sale here:

SS is CIB and in perfect condition, and Afterburner is cart-only but clean and 100% functional.
No, I'm not just saying that to sell them. Those games really are probably the most fun 32X entries, other than Virtua Fighter.

My favorites are Doom & Virtua Racing.
I haven't tried Virtua Fighter yet though, but I'm sure I'll love it as much as on Saturn.

Shadow Squadron.
If you want Space Harrier, get the Saturn version.

oh, i dont have a saturn. Ill look if they have either SH or afterburner. and if they dont have afterburner, ill look into buying it from genesis knight. Another question: is it very bad to run the 32X without the electromagnetic shield plates? the one i got from ebay didnt have them and it still works just fine.

Is it better than space harrier 2 for genesis? I wasnt extremely impressed with that game. I really want to try star wars arcade and zaxxon. oh. after recieving my 32X, i have found out that cosmic carnage SUCKS!

It is A LOT better than Space Harrier II.

Don't worry about those metal plates. They exist only to pass the FCC rules of the time. They don't do much of anything as far as I can tell. Metal plated attached to a plastic cart port (they don't touch anything metal other than the 32X) are absolutely useless.
Zaxxon is somewhat good, but don't go out of your way to try it. Star Wars Arcade is insanely difficult. I have a hard time getting any enjoyment out of it.

You can't use Space Harrier II to guage whether or not you'll like the original. The original Space Harrier is such a timeless classic... While Space Harrier II was my favorite of the original Genesis launch titles, it's possible nostalgic feelings for the original played a part in that assessment.
You have to remember Space Harrier II was developed exclusively for the Genesis and thus had to make due with the system's limitations (no scaling, smaller color palette, etc). The gameplay is a little stiff on II.
Space Harrier is definately better than SH II. Moves a lot faster and smoother, it's really good. If you were disappointed with AfterBurner on the Genesis like I was, the 32X version fixes a lot of the bad feelings. Star Wars is good too, but is very hard. I play it in moderation.

lol, i went to that game store today, and they didnt have AB or SH for 32X but i bought AB II for the genesis and busted out my new arcade stick (well, new to me anyways) and had some good times with it. I cant wait to get a good shmup like vapor trail or fire shark to use it. I only have the 3 button stick. Anyways, I bought star wars arcade, and whoever does admiral ackbar's voice doesnt sound anything like admiral ackbar. I am now seeing why the 32x was doomed from the beginning. I bought that and i bought NFL quarterback club, which is nothing but a souped up genesis game. Meh, not bad for $25 today.
I like Night Trap 32X-cd best. Great Mega CD games, improved to 32x standards. FMV at its finest.

i dont have a sega cd yet, i lost the bid on ebay for it. that store doesnt have CD 32X games anyways. Well, SW arcade is okay, VR deluxe is good, but NFL is just a gen upgrade and cosmic carnage sucks the big one.

Well, I don't have a huge 32x collection, but Mortal Kombat II gets the most playtime for me. Best MK + 6 button pad = bliss. :D

There's only a handful of US games worth having for the system IMO: Blackthorne, Knuckles Chaotix, Kolibri, Tempo, MK II, Virtua Racing Deluxe, Afterburner, and Shadow Squadron. I haven't played Spider Man due to the $$$$$$ and haven't tried Toughman Contest yet but saw a positive review of it on Digipress. Virtua Fighter and Space Harrier are better on the Saturn.
What do you guys think, is DarXide worth the trouble it takes to play it in the US?

It's not worth the money in the first place. It's just 3D Asteroids, people!

Check out Blackthorne, it gets better as u play.

Blackthorne is a great game. I like it better than the SNES version. The SNES version seems "fat" since it runs in a lower resolution. But capi is right, it really does get better as you play. A fantastic game to be sure, and there is no Genesis version. Definitely an oft-overlooked gem for the 32X.

If you have two grand, and some hardware modding skills, then it's your call.

So nobody recommends T-Mek? I actually haven't played it, but I seem to like that type of game (3D tank/mech combat) more than most people. I was a big fan of games like GunGriffon, Assault Rigs, MechWarrior 2, etc. on Saturn.

I've played it. It's pretty good, but it's very expensive when it pops up on eBay. Probably not worth the money to most people. The one thing that stands out most about it in my mind is the ridiculously close fog line.

Ah. I didn't realise it was so expensive.

Knuckles Chaotix
Kolibri 32x
Tempo 32x
Darxside 32x
Shadow Squadron
Space Harrier 32x
Star Wars Arcade 32x
Virtua Fighter 32x
thats all u'l need to experience the full Sega 32bit Experience. Not much but add that up wit Sega CD titles and Genz, its a whole new world. Plus these titles are pretty good...worth the money I spent on em
MK2. Chaotix is too confusing, MK2 is prettier than all the other versions, recycled crap and all, and it's still one of the best fighters from the 16-bit & 32-bit gen.
