So I buy a dreamcast from the pawn shop. First I have to take the games back because they are busted, so I get new ones. I bring it back, the games work perfect. So I play them, and leave it for a while and go on the computer. I come bac kto play with my friend later... and it doesen't work! The problem is the disk doesen't even spin on the inside. So whats the problem? Can I fix it myself? Do I need new parts? Can I get it fixed? How much will it cost?.

Sounds like that Dreamcast was on its last legs and simply burned out. Repair isn't really an option; it's far cheaper to just pick up a unit without hookups/games/accessories off eBay.

Hmm, is there a power light? If you have a VMU in the controller (with batteries removed), does it BEEEEEEP? Is there video output?

This could be the common "reset problem", or a variation thereof. See http://www94.pair.com/jsoper/dc_fix.html for info on how to fix it.
