Not sure really where to post this kind of topic so the Genesis section seems best, it's just a simple image of Sonic I did earlier today, it's not filled or anything because i'm still waiting for my art supplies. I'm not happy with the "SEGA" logo, looks kinda crappy to be honest. Anyway, be happy to hear your thoughts...

If you have time, check out my other drawings: www.keyransolo.deviantart.com

Nothing impressive, mind.

Thats a pretty good Sonic.

Not bad at all dude! If I didn't know better, I'd think that was official art.

You know who draws a mean Sonic, though? Sam Logan of Sam and Fuzzy (http://www.samandfuzzy.com) fame.

Looks good. Now, add colours!

Looks good, very faithful to the old official art. I think the eyebrows and sega logo can be improved though.

I think it looks great. (It is alot better than what I could do!) Like Alianger said though the SEGA logo could be improved but other than that, great work!

Yeah I hate the way the logo looks :S Ah well, better next time.

Here are some drawings I did of Sonic shortly after he first came out. These drawings are all a bit water damaged and also very large. I had to scan them in 4 passes each and then reassemble them which is harder than it sounds since the drawings can't lay perfectly flat on the scanner as a result of their size. All drawings were inked and then finished with thick colored pencils.

This is basically just the box cover for Sonic the Hedgehog.

I did a variation on the cover for a game store called Power Play Games. This hung on their front door for well over a year. They were where I rented all of my Japanese Mega Drive games loooong before they came out in the US.

Here's one I drew when I was anticipating the release of Sonic CD. The Sega CD logo at the bottom sucks because I do not draw the Copperplate Gothic Bold font very well. Why I made it green, grey and orange is beyond my current comprehension.

Looks very good. Now post a pic of your Thunder Force III drawing.

I also did Thunder Force IV. Maybe I'll just post all of my game related drawings.

@ Mega_Drive_Kid, how long did it take you to do that Sonic drawing? Also, is it just in pencil or did you ink it too? :?

Haha, last time I tried to draw Sonic it just a fat blob with a head and spikey bits.

Good idea. I'd like to see more.

Alright, I changed the name of the thread so that anyone can post any game-related artwork. Here's the rest of mine:

http://pixelcraze.film-tech.net/art/GhoulsGhosts.jpg
Ghouls 'n Ghosts - This one bothers me since it is a cutout placed on a black board. I guess it looks alright, though.

http://pixelcraze.film-tech.net/art/ThunderForce3.jpg
Thunder Force 3 - Based on the Japanese box (which is nearly identical to the US box) at the time of its release.

http://pixelcraze.film-tech.net/art/ThunderForce4.jpg
Thunder Force 4 - This one is alright, but it bothers me because it isn't symmetrical.

And now for the black and white stuff, all done with a mechanical pencil:

http://pixelcraze.film-tech.net/art/Shinobi.jpg
Shinobi - I like ninjas.

http://pixelcraze.film-tech.net/art/RevengeofShinobi.jpg
Revenge of Shinobi - Yeah.

http://pixelcraze.film-tech.net/art/ShadowDancer.jpg
Shadow Dancer - I really like this one a lot... except for the hands.

http://pixelcraze.film-tech.net/art/Ys.jpg
Ys Book 1 & 2 - The face bothers me quite a bit. I was not very adept at drawing the female form at the time.

The G+G and RoS were the best. Good stuff! How long ago did you do this?

Thanks! It'd probably be safe to say it's all about 15 years old.

Since this is no longer a Genesis-specific thread, I'm moving it.

I drew some Zelda II pics of Link back in '89, but they've long since been lost.

Those are some great pictures Joe. Your woman's face is, as you said, a bit of a mess and you can't see her breasts and it certainly isn't the best of your submitted drawings thus far. Generally awesome, Shadow Dancer is awesome (and I mean the picture and not the game which is tosh).

I have to say that I am mightly impressed, particularly with the fantastic use of shading on some of the pencil sketches....

I think the Thunder Force drawings were the best. Very good colouring.

I want to also add that I always enjoyed cool video game fan art, such as those displayed in the old video game mags on envelopes and so on. In fact, this is a major reason I used to really like Gamepro back in the day. It had cool custom art for its covers and many times in its game review articles, not to mention the "Adventures of Gamepro" comic. I know Gamepro is considered a bottom tier gaming mag, but the cool art is why I liked it years ago.
