View Full Version : Double Dragon series: Share the love!
I just got my copy of PC-Engine Double Dragon II and I'm one happy man! It's the NES game on crack, with some awesome anime cut scenes between each stage. Plays like buttah and is very solid overall.
I also played a bit of the Genny version via Gens, and am considering getting it. It plays slower than the original Genesis game (trust me, that's a good thing), and is totally different from the NES/PCE one.
I'm on a DD frenzy! I already have Super DD on the SNES but will not, however, be getting parts 3 and 5. Even I have limits.
Any other DD fans out there?

Double Dragon II has it's own personal corner of my soul. I played through the NES version daily one summer long ago.
I was first exposed to the series with the Amiga release of Double Dragon III. I remember it being the bees knees, although memories from 14 years ago are more than a little shaky. I really liked playing through the temple in Egypt for whatever reason.
Yeah, Double Dragon rocks. Technos rocks.
I really like Double Dragon 2. I remember playing it on the NES until my thumbs hurted. I also played the Arcade version. When I was in middle school my friend and I stopped at a liquor store to play DD2 on our way to school. One day we just stayed there untile we finished it and we got late to school hehe.
I'm gonna buy Battletoads and Double Dragon just to have at least one game about DD.

Battletoads and Double Dragon plays a lot more like Battletoads than Double Dragon, but it's still a fun enough beat-'em-up. I prefer it to the actual Genesis/MD Double Dragon installments, which I suppose are a taste I have yet to acquire.
Melf, fine acquisition there with PC-Engine Double Dragon II. I think you made the far better choice by splurging on this one rather than settling for MD Double Dragon II, which simply isn't of the same quality.

I love DD on the NES. I prefer it to the Arcade version for some bizarre reason.

I remember I was really into DD3 on NES. Game was a bitch.
I've always had an affinity for Super DD as well. I remember prefering this game to FF at the time, though I'm sure I'm in the minority there. I just loved the fight mechanics, and knocking guys off elevators or down stairs was either missing in many beat 'em ups or not nearly as fun as it was here. Using the punching bags as weapons? Awesome.
I never played any DD Genny game. I remember them all getting panned in comparison to other DD games.

Super DD was, and still is, one of the best beat 'em ups in existance.
At my gamecrazy they sold the last copy of battletoads and double dragon now I have no double dragon game at all. This sucks.
