I didn't realize that the title would end up being a pun...but what the hell was Sega thinking when they made Sega CD cases to be such gigantic blocks?

"Let's make sure no-one takes them for traditional music CDs."

That would apply for the US market...the Japanese got away with regular jewel cases. Sheesh...Even though I do not have many Sega CD games, trying to arrange the cases can get trying sometimes.

Agreed. I have CDs from all three regions. I just arrange them by region instead of by name.

Perhaps Genesis owners are too stupid to realize games could possibly be in a regular-sized CD case. I know I was always trying to insert Black Hole Assault into my CD player. I didn't realize there was a game on Sega CDs until they changed their box style.

Speaking of cases, were there any type of carrying case for the SegaCD, model 1 or 2 and/or official or third party? The model 2 would have lend itself perfectly for a carrying case.

I liked the big cases, and the Playstation long boxes as well. I was trying to sell a copy of Twisted Metal in the longbox and the used game store wouldn't take it because longbox games "take up to much space." What's more American than wasting space and destroying the environment with unnecessary cardboard and plastic? Long boxes forever!

At least they didn't stick with the paper boxes.

Second that. The paper boxes are impossible to keep! i just threw them away and kept the plastic ones. for genesis that is, i havent bought a sega CD yet. I might soon, i want to play sonic CD badly.

Didn't Sony actually buy their plastic longboxes from Sega thanks to some production Snafu?

The Sega CD paper boxes have a CD case inside them, so they're not that bad. Some of the best were only publshed that way, so it's a necessary evil(Night Trap, Road Avenger, Secret of Monkey Island).

Funny how the Genesis went from hard cases to paper packaging.

The Sony longboxes are way different. They are black, thicker plastic with cardboard. The Sega CD longboxes are a pretty thin clear plastic. Half mine are cracked :(

Many SONY PS1 games were exactly like Sega CD/Saturn cases... mainly the launch games. After that they went to the weird cardboard boxes and then finally got their asses in gear and went to jewel cases.

Oh, I have the weird cardboard ones then. They're good cases, they hold up really well.
