Finally got around to watching Akira, and the first thing I thought was 'whoa, this is Last Bronx!' Does anyone else see the eerie similarity between Last Bronx and the Akira movie? Costumes, biker gangs, motorcycles, makeshift weapons, the relationships, even some of the faces. The whole vibe in LB is almost identical to Akira, even if the proper nouns are different - although not all, because even the cities are named Neo-Tokyo.

I think most cities that take place in the future are named Neo-something-or-other in the world of anime. I've seen Akira (twice I think) and I don't really see the connection. However I barely remember Akira because I'd rather devote that space of my brain memory to that fine experience of watching paint dry.

Akira = 60+ minutes of hearing "Tetsuo" and "Kaneda" said 5 billion times.

I'd rather spend 60 minutes watching the Akira in my sig thank you very much.

*i've forgotten what Last Bronx is*

Um yeah, Akira was pretty annoying the whole time I though, and then there's not another movie made by the same guys who did Akira until Steamboy, which just brought disappointment.

So....yeah.
