Core design made some of the best games in my opinion for the sega cd.
Can anyone tell me their favorite Core sega cd game?
Mine is Chuck Rock!

I love Chuck Rock 2. I know I'll get crap for it but I love that game.

I had lots of fun with Soul Star and AH3 Thunderstrike. Let's not forget Jaguar XJ220 which was great for its time. I didn't like Chuck Rock 1 very much. It just had that lousy EU feel to it. Chuck Rock 2 was pretty cool on the Sega CD, especially the intro, but as a game it wasn't that great. Wonderdog was ass, as was Wolfchild. BC Racers was pretty cool on the Sega CD, but a complete mess on the 32X and 3DO.

Crap I forgot about Thunderstrike. I played the crap out of that game.

SegaCD Thunderstrike was better than the Saturn sequel. You'll agree with me if you've played both games.

Core Design really understood how to maximize the Sega CD's scaling and rotation, so I really enjoyed all of their games that utilize those effects. Even Sega of Japan does not seem to know how to make the best use of the scaling and rotation (as seen in the bonus stages of Sonic CD).

I liked pretty much every game Core released for the Sega CD. B.C. Racers is probably my least favorite, but even that's not too bad. Contrary to Joe, I enjoyed Wonder Dog. I actually haven't played Wolf Child.

Battlecorps was pretty awesome. I'm a sucker for mech games, and I think that was the first "3D" one I ever played. They did a very good job of utilizing the Sega CD hardware; it was pretty impressive in its day. It doesn't hold up to Gungriffon or anything but I still enjoy it.

Soul Star and Thunderstrike are also equally impressive. The Chuck Rock games really aren't, but they're still good platformers (and I do like the CD soundtracks).

I'll take your word for it.

I need to play Thunderstrike, looks great and seems to have a high opinion with most.

Thunderstrike is great and still fun to play but it has aged a bit. It follows the Ace Combat/Gungriffon setup where your stuck in giant rectangle and blow everything in your way which is always fun pretty or not. It was well worth the $3 I paid for it.

Wolf Child on the sega cd was not made by Core Design

Wolf Child for sega cd was done by JVC

Yes and no. It was ported by Jvc but Core designed the game from the start for the Amiga and Atari St.

JVC only published games, they didn't do any programming in house.

Saying that JVC did Wolfchild is like saying that JVC did AH-3 Thunderstrike and Jaguar XJ220 or that Tengen made Robo Aleste.

Love AH3 Thunderstrike and soul star is fun as well(Best Intro ever). Battle corps, I like the music, but the gameplay plays fine but it just seems to kind of drag..My attention span dies by the 3rd stage. Love the menu system and commentary from that dude :) Chuck rock 2 is pretty fun once you get a feel for it. Havent played the first one yet. So BC racers is better on cd than 32x? Ive been wondering which copy to get.

None. If I were bored, I might be tempted to play on of the Chuck Rock games, but yeah...

BcRacer is my fav core design game :) Played it a lot with friends (co-op mode).
So fun, with so many secret passages inside ! (each map have a secret passage to grab few seconds).
Took hours and hours to explore all those passages ^^.
It have 7 themes and by four levels (each levels have different track-set) which mean a lot of challenge and a big amount of tracks.
Loved the mad turbo button ^^
The gameplay is also very drift-based, which is absolutely unique compared to other racing games.

The problem with the 32x version is that it is smoother keeping the same gameplay settings... So each drift you make is absolutely too fast, not fun!
However, the gfx are 256colors with bigger sprites and fade-in on objects.
You can also play in split-mode (no more co-op mode, if i remember, what a big lose !!!!)...
Maybe if you never played the segacd version, it will give you fun... But in my case it was a : "wtf! they ruined the gameplay! WHY? WHYYYYY!"

There was a 32x version!? Heh. Was it a 32x SegaCD game or just a 32x cart?

The also changed it so you can only punch in one direction if I recall.

Core also did Skeleton Krew for the Genny, BTW - I'm reviewing it soon.

I just got skeleton krew a day or two ago, it seems pretty badass! The elevator part after first level kind of went on forever and made me mad, but I love these birdseye view kind of overhead shooters like chaos engine and especially zombies ate my neighbors.

Jaguar XJ220 is my favorite racer on the Sega CD.

Wonderdog was fun, I know not many like this game. I still enjoy the sound effects and music. The level one music is great with the cows in the background.
