So I am at a party right now, and brought my Sega CD as a CD player because the DJ needed an extra CD player.
He said he knew how to use my model Sega CD (the model 1 I bought off nik from this forum).
So, I'm having fun, and I notice on the big monitor he's doing something fancy I've NEVER seen my Sega CD do. Just what is this, a built in mixer?!
sorry about quality, doing this from someones iPhone.

WARNING: This post is of no help to you whatsoever
No idea, but I just wanted to say what an awesome post this is. It's got it all: a party, Sega hardware being used to make people get their dance on, the mystery of a possible secret function, and the fact you're using an iPhone to post in a forum. Dayam, that's living!
Again, sorry that I can't actually shed any light on the matter at hand...

Yea, its' fun alright :p
anyway, here's a vid with no audio to show him doing this in action.. it appears to be the "PROGRAM" function. i've never used that cause it looked confusing.

(It's hard to hold a camera when people are dancing, and it's dark with black lights, and people are bumping into you)
EDIT: Here's an unrelated vid link with audio, but ONLY a short clip.

Should have taken the PS1 over to this guy's hizzouse. It has the best CD audio that's ever been heard on the face of the planet, especially when you use it with Monster® Cable™.

Only the first model PlayStations. Besides, it doesn't exactly have the features he needed (or hookups). He used the RCA jacks on the CD, to go directly into the mixer, via an RCA to XLR cable.

First model PS1s have the RCA jacks. Better audio than real life.

Don't have that though. I can only give what I have.

Sorry, no excuses. You spoiled the party by not having one. I bet everyone left.
My dad's PS1 is not better than anything else I have... but say what you want, my DC sounds lot better... though its CD player is pretty lame... I like PS1 visualizations though.

Actually, professionals with big audio equipment have proven that the very first PlayStation did indeed have good sound.
Your cheap stuff that isn't of studio grade can't tell you otherwise. You seriously need studio stuff to hear the difference.

Well, after modding my DC, it sure does sound better than before... trash the opamps and filters and you get much better sound from anything... my dad wouldn't let me mod his PS1 though... I'm pretty sure there's room for some audio mod... And my Yamaha may be cheap, but its way better than most stuff you get from stores, its audio characteristics are very good, and not many cards can sample at 500KHz... and it is considered semi-proffesional piece of audio equipment. But what plays better is matter of taste... DC does something to sound which I really like, and nothing else does it... I love Yamaha... my DC, PC and MD all have some...

The equipment I use cost thousands of dollars, even the speakers cost a hefty bunch.
But seriously, only the ORIGINAL PSX has the good audio. Just because it has RCA jacks doesn't mean it's the original, there is a step back.
well, not everyone lives on a pile of money...
Anyway I like the sound of my DC more than from my dad's PS1... my uncle's PS1 is older model than my dad's one, but it sounds same. I don't say that PS1 sounds poor, quite the opposite, but I just like the sound of DC more.
And we should be discussing your party... which was pretty nice. My birthday party which happened few days ago was kind of similiar... after all were drunk we played MK3 on MD, and SA2 on DC... while listening death metal which sounds very cool when you're drunk ;) My neck still hurts of moshing...

I have a PS2, will that give my Bose speakers TWICE the Playstation 1 crispness? 2 is 1 x 2 after all!
