93: Sonic 3 & Knuckles *tied with* Gunstar Heroes
94: Shining Force II
95: Ristar
96-98: uhhh... Frogger I guess

2005: Beggar Prince (well its the only game...)

I also think that 93-94 were the best years for the Genesis!

I was joking with quackshot, but I am not sure of which game is my fave, I know Sonic 1 is amazing and needs to be mentioned, it's just I can remember playing more games in 91 than just Sonic, and there is no way Sonic 1 is GOTY for me (I hated the special stages, and once I used the spin dash, I never went back to the backtracking).


I still say it's a 10/10 though!

Earthworm Jim 2 came out in '95, and I think Lightening Force may not have actually seen release until '93.

As I understand it, the Genesis release of Earthworm Jim 2 came out on January 1st, 1996, but the SNES EJ2 was out in late '95 . Everywhere I checked for Lightening Force says '92, so I'm inclined to side with that, but it sure doesn't feel like a '92 game..

That's odd, I was under the impression that the Genesis version was the first one.

edit: Mobygames says 1995 for the Genesis and SNES versions, and 1996 for PC and Saturn.

IGN claims January 1st, 1996 for the Genesis version, and GameFAQs/Gamespot have the NA release as well at 1996.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was actually a Q4 1995 release, it just fit snuggly into my top 3 of '96.
