Help...i need to know the name of this game!

Hello all. I remember really digging this one years back as a teenager. In the game you played the role of this guy/cyborg/whatever that would go through the levels and blast stuff. The DIFFERENCE from every other side scroller being that the character seemed to be "running" all the while...and you could sort of "rewind" your actions. I remember the visuals were GREAT and the bosses were your typical Japanese-themed terrors...HUGEass mechas and beasts. The case had the Data East logo on it, if this helps. Oh, also, your character was fairly small on the screen...adding to the effect that the scenes you traversed were HUGE. I have looked all around for something that rang a bell, but with no luck. :daze:

We smoked a lot in those days, and drank a LOT of scotch, but I KNOW this wasnt some sort of "figment of my imagination"...lol...please, if anyone can help with the name of this game!!

Oh there was another as well...This one was like a Final Fight/Streets of Rage clone, but your character(s) had a sci-fi/futuristic look...and had energy beams and such...rather like MegaMan...

A bit more came back to me... the cover of the case...it showed some kinda "space fighter" guy blasting out...in a dynamic anime-style..

Thank you but nope...I have played several Turrican games...none are the one in question.

Im trying to recall more....rrrrrr....like I said...was the late eighties and we all "indulged" in the smoke and the drink...lol..times are hazy....

Well, the title was TWO words... BLANK BLANK...no "the" or anything like that...and the title was on the lower bottom of the case..underneath the artwork of a sci-fi-type guy blasting outward with some sort of "energy burst"....

Turrican...that character was more of a Robocop/Juggernaut sort of character... In the game I'M referring to your character looks more akin to MegaMan mixed with a State Police uniform...

And as to the second one, it seemed to be "post-apocalyptic" in nature...weird "mutant gang members" and such that you had to fight off...

Oh...they were BOTH in the arcades if that helps...we used to ROCK on 'em in there a couple/few years before the Genesis versions...

Never played it either, but this proves that I'm good at spotting out games that even I've never pla-okay I used the Sega-16 beat-em-ups article as a reference. >_>
