I'd wish for a Sega CD version of Metal Gear Solid.

I wish that it had a slot loading drive, and blue leds.
And candy dispensing capabilities.
Jk
Actually, if we could go back in time and possess sega executive bodies, I would force them to not include an additional AC Adapter, and make it so there were more colours displayed.

Don't ever mention colors. It spark a technical discussion along with gifs with color counts. I can't take anymore of those. It would confuse my little brain.

thats been discussed to death.
In short; it would have required a VDP and a cable similar to the 32x setup.

Yes, blue power LEDs make everything better.
I'd wish for a Sega CD version of Metal Gear Solid.
Don't you mean a version of Metal Gear 2:Solid Snake? Metal Gear Solid is a wee bit too much for the Sega CD

I don't understand why Virtua Fighter 5 wasn't on the Sega CD. It just doesn't make any sense!

I wish for a Sega Vengeance that combines all Sega systems into one box with a single CD tray and a universal adaptable cart slot.

That would have to have tons of processors, the Saturn alone has 8 processor with only one that is shared with the Genesis.

Even the C-One Reconfigurable Computer that uses field programmable gate arrays requires different CPUs to be plugged in as field programmable gate arrays can't do the complex logic of a CPUs well.

Is there anything that by 1991 standards could have be done to improve the machine? Half of the suggestions so far would have pushed the machine into the PS3 price range :D
I'd include a more logical memory manager. Removing the internal memory altogether in favour of a 'memory card' would defeat the "plays Mega Drive cartridges AND Mega-CDs!!" point (who wants to swap over memory devices and came cartridges?) - I'd also have made it accessible, clearly marked, from the CD player.
More cartridge & CD combinations would be interesting. Wasn't there a King of Fighters game for the Saturn that held information in a cartridge?

I wish Sega had marketed the system more and released more software for it, especially RPGs.
Wasn't there a King of Fighters game for the Saturn that held information in a cartridge? Yes there is. The game was King Of Fighters '95.
FMV games, and majority of RPGs suck, more action with FMV cutscenes !!!

My family used to have a tradition of watching the musical version of Scrooge which stared Alec Guinness as Marley's ghost and the bloke who played Scrooge (forgot his name) was only thirty something.
Anywho, I gotta track that bugger down on DVD.
What the hell does this have to do with the good old Mega CD??!!

What's wrong with yours? I ended up learning how to fix mine, incase it broke (which it did once during a music CD, and was just hair on the lasers tracking gear, which threw it off).
I could guide you through the repair.

They always seem to start making this horrible grinding noise. Then then they don't want to read the disc. I took the first one apart thinking "hey I have rebuilt engines how hard could this be". I couldn't see anything obvious like a hair or something.

Check the laser position switch. when the laser moves completely to the inner area of the CD, it hits a switch that tells the system that the laser has been "reset" (for a lack of a better term).
If this switch doesn't get triggered, it keeps trying to move the laser, even though it has no more track, thus the gears grind.

It should love me because despite it's horrible appearance and poor standard of games I have not thrown it out into the cold and have let it live in a cupboard with about 15 Mega Drives. It's pretty similar to why Quasimodo loved Frollo.

I don't know if I just got lucky but my sega model 1 setup has been more reliable than any of my newer systems. Ive gone through two dreamcasts but that was my fault for playing ripped games, horrible for the laser, and just poor treatment. I treat my treamcast se like my baby though. My snes crapped out on me. I know a lot of people having trouble with x-boxes and playstations crapping out. The controller ports always die on x-box as do the controllers and cd-drive door. My sega tower of power is still going strong, but if I have to disconnect the cd part I find when I put it back it doesn't want to work at first and I have to keep messing with it till I get it right. Sometimes it doesn't like a game when I first get it. When I got final fight it kept locking up during the intro and it really pissed me off, then it just kind of stopped doing it and was like, ok, im cool with this game now. I swear its alive, so I treat it nice. My treamcast, I can tell its thinking. I'll be playing nba 2k2 and It will take shit personally, I can tell when its angry.
