Sega Gen(model1) CD (model1) + 32X problem.

I have a Genesis model 1, Sega Cd model 1 and a 32x hooked up. All cables and metal plates, etc, are connected right. Problem is, when the gen is hooked up to the Sega CD, 32X games freeze or won't start altogether. When unplugged, everything works perfect.

Am I stuck constantly unplugging my CD unit or is there a solution to have all hooked up and work harmoniously?

Clean the connector on the Genesis that connects it to the Sega CD.

My system was giving problems and that fixed it.

I did some serious cleaning and the problem still exists.

Is there something else to blame here?
