Problems with Sega 32X and Knuckles Chaotix

I have a Gen 1 Genesis, 32x and Sega CD Gen II. I can plug in any 32x cart or CD game and it works just fine. When I plug in Knuckles Chaotix it always locks up shortly after the SEGA logo appears. I thought the game had gone bad so I bought another copy. It too locks up EXACTLY at the same spot. Is this problem probably with the Genesis or 32X? Any ideas? I've cleaned all the various the system-to-system contacts thoroughly.

Never mind on this one. I completely disassembled the 32X and recleaned every possible contact including the grounding contacts on the outside of the "male" part of the unit and now both copies of Knuckles Chaotix will boot right up. I guess I have a nice extra copy I can unload, perhaps I can trade it off for one of the three remaining 32X games I still need to complete my collection.

The same thing had actually happened to me sometimes, but more often during gameplay. I still managed to beat the game though.
