See the title. I've been having trouble playing my JP Sonic CD game play on my Sega CDX I used a program called ConvSCD, which I've been told will let me play JP games on my Sega CD, but all it dose is changes the game' ISO to play on the Sega CD: Not the music.

Can anyone PLEEEEAAAAASSSSSE help me?

Ok, so you have a JP copy of Sonic CD that you want to play on a US system?

It will always have the JP music. It's red book audio and they only stored one region's worth of music on it.

If you want the US music, you'll have to a.) get a US copy of the game or b.) somehow otherwise obtain the music from the US version and reburn using that instead of the old music. The videos will still all have the JP music, though.

Kind of odd ... you usually hear about people trying to go the other way ...

I've done this myself, I take it u have the game itself, so I have the ISO on my HDD if u want it?

No, I whant to play the JP version of Sonic CD on my US Sega CDX. I bought my JP copy just for the music.

Ok, so to clarify, I'm try to play the JP version WITH its JP music on my US Sega CDX. I have no idea how you thought I was trying to get the JP version to play the US music

Mooияakeя, does your copy have the JP sound track and will it play on a US Sega CDX?

Thanks, but isn't there a cheaper way to do it? I mean, 70 dollars?!?

If the music is not playing, you are just burning the ISO, and failed to make a CUE file. You didn't tell me this in the PM.

You need:

ISO
WAVE Files
CUE File

You need to properly dump your game first. You got the ISO, good. But now you need the music files. You can use iTunes, but don't let it get the names, we want this to be an easy "Track 2, track 3, etc". Make sure it's dumped as WAVE 16-bit 44KHz...

Now, get those files and put them in the same directory as the ISO. I will make the CUE file for you once I have those.

I think what EWJF is trying to say is that it changes the ISO but it doesn't rip the music from the CD with it so when he burns the new CD, it doesn't have any music. You'll need to rip the audio yourself.

Edit: yeah, what evildragon said.

Would it work if I just burned the ISO and and add the JP Sonic Music?

Joe Redifer

You have to burn it all at once, but I think you have the right idea. You'll need Sega Cuemaker or something like that. Someone who knows more about it than I can explain.

What this CUE file? Will I need it to burn?

EDIT: Just found out from Wikipedia.

So, if I burn the ISO, the MP3 files, and the CUE files it'll play on my Sega CDX?

evildragon
01-18-2008, 08:44 PM
No, you do not want MP3.. You want to rip directly you WAVE, which is uncompressed PCM, the native RedBook CD Audio format..

I gave you instructions for iTunes use to rip, just do that.. REMEMBER: Do not let it get track names!

Ok, I have all the files I need. Is there anything ANYTHING else I need, or do, before burning?

Did you put the WAVE files and ISO into a directory and run a CUE file maker?

Show the contents of the CUE file...

MEGA-CD Action game

(C)1993 SEGA

EDIT: Gah! There text files. What do I do to get them into CUE filles?

evildragon

That's not the CUE file.

Use the Cue file maker mentioned, with all WAVE and ISO's in the same directory.

I have given the same instruction numerous times..

Earthworm_Jim_Fan

What CUE file maker? You never mentiond that before.

EDIT: Thanks for the PM.

I'll let everyone know if it worked...tommorow. I've been working on this thing for 6 hours now...

Ok, sorry to double post, but when I burn with NERO I get an error that says:

Invalid Write Disk

What am I doing wrong.

evildragon

Can you right-click the cue file, select Open With, and select Notepad, and copy the contents in it?

Earthworm_Jim_Fan
01-19-2008, 05:10 PM
Ok, I acidently deleted the CUE file so I wen't to make another on and now it's asking what I should name it. What should the file name be?

evildragon
01-19-2008, 05:54 PM
it doesn't matter.

But before you burn, PLEASE show the contents of the CUE file.

Use Megacart to avoid all the hassling

He doesn't want to pay. He made mention of this earlier.

And now I'm rich too ? I'm so poor that I build everything myself form scavenged parts so I wouldn't have to pay and have a reason to brag about something.

He can't afford the flash cart. Said so himself. He can't build one, doesn't have the know how.

So, this is the only way for him.

Looks good to me.

Try and load the CUE.

EDIT: How big is the ISO? The name of the ISO is almost named like a BIOS.

Earthworm_Jim_Fan
01-20-2008, 09:55 PM
ISO file name: scd_920

File size: 107 MB.

evildragon

Good, sonnds about right.

I say go for the burn...

Load the CUE file as an image in NERO.

Earthworm_Jim_Fan
01-20-2008, 10:15 PM
Uh, how do I load it as an image?

Joe Redifer
01-20-2008, 10:19 PM
Open Nero. Go to File > Open and select the CUE file. After that all you need to do is burn... at least that's the way it works on the unbloated version of Nero (no Nero Express or whatever it is called for me).

Earthworm_Jim_Fan
01-20-2008, 10:49 PM
Well, I burned, popped it into my Sega CDX...and the disk just kept spining and spining.

It didn't work...what did I do wrong? Do I need a Track 1 or something?

evildragon
01-20-2008, 10:53 PM
The ISO is track 1.

Make sure you burn at a slow speed. Your burner may have made a "coaster".

You did also run the ISO through convCD?

Earthworm_Jim_Fan
01-20-2008, 11:01 PM
I just deleted the ISO. I'm gonna run it through convCD again.

Whats the file name for the ISO on the disk?

evildragon
01-20-2008, 11:10 PM
Wait, your going about this all wrong. You shouldn't go deleting files.

I don't want to be rude, but I'm about to give up, if you keep deleting files..

You need to make an ISO of the CD from within nero, then run that ISO through convSCD, then make the CUE with the patched ISO...

Please read the instructions for ConvSCD. It tells you clearly how to do this from the command line.

As for Nero, you'll need Joe for that. I don't have Nero.
