Is this hard or even possible to do? Also, if the Megadrive is modded with a region switch will it affect the region lock on the Mega-CD? Any help would be much appreciated.

The Mega-CD 2 came with a plastic block that hooks alongside the unit, so a model 1 Mega Drive will fit properly. It'll work just fine if you just got a loose Mega-CD, though, because the Mega Drive just slots onto the Mega-CD. It just gets rid of the gap between the Mega Drive and the surface you're resting the Mega-CD on -thus making it look nicer :)

The region setting of the Mega-CD is separate to the Mega Drive. Try searching this forum if you want to start playing import CD titles!

I have a Genesis 1 on a sega CD 2 side loader. The tray has an adapter/extension so the Genesis 1 doesn't overhang. Works perfectly.

The region lock does affect the Mega-CD. If you want to play games from multiple regions, you'll need to get a multi-bios mod for the Mega-CD.

Slightly off-topic, would a Gen II connect to a SegaCD I?

Yes. Official drawings from SEGA via the 32X manual.

Notice numbers 8 and 11.
