I love displaying my video games on bookshelves. It's pleasing to the eye, and it makes finding a particular game so much easier. The Genesis is particularly easy since most games have a nice clamshell, but the reality is that it is hard to find complete games, and there are many later games (as well as 32x stuff) that came in the crappy cardboard boxes. I was doing some net searching to see if anyone made a replacement, and I came across this:

Those are generic cartridge clamshell cases that work with Genesis, EA, SNES, and a few other carts. The measurements are very close to Genesis clamshells, although they aren't exactly the same. I waw wondering, has anyone tried these out? I was wondering how they looked on the shelf next to the genuine boxes. The biggest problem I see is that they are white, but with an insert printed it might not matter so much. I would just buy a few to experiment, but you can only buy them in sets of 100. The price doesn't concern me too much, since that is much less than I spend for Neo Geo cases, but I'd hate to get stuck with that many if I don't end up liking them.
The only other alternative that I see would be to buy cheap games from ebay with the purpose of stealing the boxes, but there is no guarantee that the boxes are in good shape and then I would still have some junk carts with no homes. That makes me sad :(
