Which movies and TV shows has the Sega Genesis appeared in?
I know it appeared in Wayne's World, Supercop & Blank Check
On the small screen, it appeared in Nickelodeon Arcade. What other TV shows did the Genesis appear in?

Its talked about in Mallrats, and was supposed to be a genesis, but it turned out to be a saturn ...

I remember that in the first Austin Powers movie towards the end Scott Evil came out and asked his dad if he could take the Sega. Although it never showed which Sega he was talking about. I think at the time the movie came out, the Saturn was the newest Sega system, but the Genesis still had a pretty decent following if I'm not mistaken.

I think it was Swingers where the characters were shown playing one of the early NHL games and declared the fight animations to be "pretty money".

Austin Powers, I believe was '97, late gensis era, and most people refered to the Genesis as the 'sega'. People still do and I have to ask them if they mean the Genesis.
Aslo, there was an episode, I heard, of the x-files (late in the series with the two new people) where the new guy made some comment about Sega. I read that somewhere, I've never seen it.

Actually, it was a Genesis, and the original Mallrats DVD audio commentary has an interesting story about it.
If I remember correctly, it was originally supposed to be the EA NHL of that year, but Sega promised that if they put the SegaSports version in that they'd show Mallrats off during one of their big Sega promo tours. So Kevin Smith put the SegaSports game in instead, and Sega didn't show a single thing for Mallrats during the tour.

In the spectacular thrill-a-minute roller-coaster-ride-of-the-summer Rumble in the Bronx the stupid little kid plays a Game Gear without a game cartridge in it. This mistake cost the movie the BEST PICTURE EVER MADE at whatever year's Acedemay Awards ceremony. :)

Maybe my memory on the matter is fuzzy but I really do remember seeing a saturn there.

I've watched the movie many times in my quest to try to find myself (I was an extra in it.) However I don't remember seeing a game gear. Then again I couldn't find myself either...

Drew Carey often displayed a Sega console on the show. I want to say it was a Saturn. I also believe The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air had a Genesis hooked up to the TV from time to time.

In Napolean Dynamite, when he's in the flea market for 3 seconds there's a Genesis among the stuff on one of the upper shelfs.
And Drew Carrey has mentioned Genesis in one of his books, claiming if he ever meets the guy who invented Sega Genesis he'd beat the shit out of him.

I saw a Genesis in Ricki Lake once... And btw, the Mega Drive is also "the Sega" in Sweden.

And I'm not trying to sound like a jerkstore or anything, but I don't even think the Saturn was out when Mallrats was being filmed (late '93 through '94). That, and during the scene in Brodie's room they show him holding a Genesis controller and they show the TV at least once.

There was some swedish movie where a kid was playing Sonic 3 (Camera was positioned behind the TV, but the Hydro City music was playing) but he was holding a SNES controller. Hurray for sound editor fuck-ups in post production!

Why? Is it because he gets a lot of people asking him about the system on the set of the show?
I also remembered its featured in Devil Hunter Yohko. According to the commentary, the series was created to promote the MegaDrive and Game Gear games. What I find most odd is the shot showing her in her bedroom with game stuff everywhere -- there's a Lynx clearly on the floor as well, and I'm surprised it'd be referenced in Japan being largely a little known American portable system.

Wow, I'm a fan of Parker Lewis and don't even remember that. I have some episodes on my media PC that I've yet to watch through. I'll see if I can find it and upload it.
This would make a good feature project I think -- Sega On Screen.

He was talking about how the first thing he bought when his show was succesful was a brand new entertainment system, and the only thing he really had to go with it was his old Genesis. I think just playing the games and fucking up all the time was what was pissing him off.

I don't understand why Drew Carrey hates the Genesis so much. Is it because people actually like the Genesis whereas Drew is nowhere near as popuar?
Parker Lewis Can't Lose rocks. I have very vague recollections of that episode. I wish I had all of those episodes to watch again. That series was too short.

3 seasons isn't exactly a long run.
Drew Carey loves Genesis.
Then why does he want to BRUTALLY MURDER the system's creator? Or at least harm him? Maybe Drew was trying to be funny? I say "trying" because it is extremely rare that Drew is actually funny.
landstalkerx: In Rumble in the Bronx, the dipshit kid the wheelchair plays the GameGear without a game and he loves it. Don't make me post a picture! I don't blame the kid. I'd have more fun with an empty Game Gear than with a real Game Gear game myself.

In theory, every video game system ever has appeared in Megas XLR. Watch the long shots of Coop's room and pay attention.
