cart troubles

i have a genesis cart and when i put it in my system and turn it on sega comes up on the screen and then it goes black and nothing happens. Does anyone know what the problem is?

What cart and what Genesis model do you have? Does it have the TMSS (Trademark Security System, a message at startup)?

"The screen" should be the TMSS screen...

The problem might be dirty cartslot or cart, some alcohol probably fixes it... if not, then you must go through a pain process.

the cart is time killers and the model is the Genesis 1,and no im not getting the TMSS message,the cart use to work fine
