View Full Version : 32X Cover Project-I need artwork

I really hate the 32X cardboard boxes. HATE them. So, I have taken it upon myself to make clamshell inserts for them. www.thecoverproject.net has a few, but none of them use proper US boxart.
I designed a template with the 32X's logos and colors by modifying a Genesis template, and it looks pretty good printed out. The problem now is that the few 32X games I have with boxes are in pretty rough shape, so they aren't very suitable for this kind of thing. So I ask that if anyone would like to contribute to the project, please scan some covers for me and either upload them to www.thecoverproject.net under raw scans or email them to me at joeymabe *at* triad.rr.com. 300 dpi scans are good, 600 is better.
Here's my first finished cover, I used Joe's Virtua Racing scan with my template.

The templates are made for the cases found here:
http://www.mediashelving.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=USCG&Category_Code=VHS
However they can be fit to a regular Genesis sized case by reducing the size just a hair. Any help and feedback would be most appreciated.

They finally posted that? Awesome. It is the proper US box art.
Also, 32X carts can't fit in a regular Genesis case. But the size of the inserts is the same.

It's been in the raw archive for a while, but nobody has done anything with it (until now.) Nobody gives a shit about 32X, it seems.
I have a few 32x games in Master System cases right now, it's a really tight fit but it works. It's a little too tight for my liking though, it might break the case eventually, which is why I'm switching to the universal media covers.

No room for instructions in the SMS cases. Just get a bunch of Acclaim 32X games, as they made hard cases for that system. They will also fit in EA cases, though the cart tends to flop around when it is open.

I am always impressed when someone puts up pics of an all-plastic 32X collection.

I got mine all in plastic clams. Can't stand cardboard. At first they were a little tight when i started making them but i got it down now perfect.

I finally got my hands on some universal media cases and printed some inserts. Naturally I took some pics for all to see.
Fronts:

Open case, the 32x cart is a little tight but it fits fine:

And here are the spines. I mixed them with regular Genesis cases so you could see the height difference, the universal cases are slightly taller and deeper:

Overall I think they look great, although I do wish that they weren't taller than the Genesis cases.

lol, what's a rose (Beggar Prince) doing hanging out with a bunch of thorns (the rest)?
EDIT: Actually, the rest ain't that bad, it's just that I'm pretty sure it's illegal to put Beggar Prince next to Shaq-Fu

I thought all Shaq Fu games were supposed to be destroyed!? Afterburner and Bacharu Racing are great games by the way.

I actually lost the Shaq Fu cart a long time ago, but I keep the case because I often threaten people with it.
Speaking of NBA Jam, I think that's the next cover I'll do. I love me some NBA Jam, and the 32x version is quite good. I'll rape the Genesis version for its artwork like I did for the Mortal Kombat 2 cover.

I have to look at Shaq Fu every day, as I don't have the case, so the cartridge goes on top of the pile. :p

Poor you, you should swap its place with a boxed game.. That would save you from looking at Shaq's ugly mug

Luckily his ugly mug isn't on the cartridge, just the name of the game. :p
Shaq Fu**er's mug is not ugly. It is pink, full of Earl Grey tea, and says "I <3 Dancing".

I have a question: Will those Universal Game cases work with NES games?

If you want a more accurate 32X DOOM cover art, the 32X logo on the spine should be reversed (3 toward the bottom, X toward the top) as on the original cardboard box. Not sure why the DOOM game got the logo reversed, probably something to do with id Software wanting to be different or simply a printing mistake.
By the way, I have a complete copy of every US 32X release and all are in good to excellent shape. If there are any scans you are missing that you still want please let me know.

I could use some scans for the following games:
Knuckles Chaotix
Space Harrier
Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000
Star Wars Arcade
I would most greatly appreciate it, since i only have loose carts and no boxes :(

Front cover scans of almost all 32X games are available on this site: http://www.sega-16.com/master_list.php?sys=32X
If you want larger scans with back and front art just say so and I'll get them for you. If you want me to e-mail them to you, send me a PM with your e-mail address.

Well, I've only got 3 32X games and everyone has only manual, but no box. I took some "This video was a rental video before" boxes, and made my own.
Sure, not the best, but better then nothing.

I know this is a month old bump, but I haven't been to the site for a while :D El Kameleon, if you still need covers for Space Harrier and Star Wars Arcade, I have some unfinished but usable covers for them (no text on the back, fronts and spines are good.) Someone posted a good US Knuckles Chaotix at thecoversite.net, so I won't bother doing that one. I also have an incomplete Afterburner case (again, no text on the back) and a MK2 cover that actually has artwork stolen from the Genesis cover.
If anyone has any 300 DPI or higher scans of any 32x stuff, send them my way, I still want to make a case for everything, I've just been busy with car stuff (long story) and playing Mario Kart lately. Drop me an email at joeymabe (at) triad.rr.com.

But basically I was wondring if there was anywhere in this day and age where I can get some full covers for the US and a couple of PAL 32x games?
Cheers

The 32X Memorial has a lot of the box and cover art, but it's all rather small. :(
http://www.geocities.com/the32xmemorial/index2.html
Moby Games will often have the art as well, like the art for Kolibri here:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/sega-32x/kolibri/cover-art
Wikipedia will also have cover art for some 32X games as well. Look up the specific game on wikipedia.
