I like Matt Furniss. I think we should talk about Matt Furniss' music. Matt Furniss' music had a really nice sound engine with above average arrangements. Here are some of my favourite soundtracks by Matt Furniss:
The Incredible Hulk (http://www.project2612.org/details.php?id=546)
Nothing makes Hulk want to SMASH more than some funky rhythms.
Wolfchild (http://www.project2612.org/details.php?id=50)
The songs here are quite different from the Amiga original, and even better if I do say so myself.
Second Samuari (http://www.project2612.org/details.php?id=273)
Overall solid dance music.
G-LOC (http://www.project2612.org/details.php?id=133)
Sounds a bit like Patrick Phelan.

His work was nice on the Genesis/32X versions of "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure", and his work on Probe's Genesis MK1 & MK2 ports bring back childhood memories as those were the ports I grew up with. I hated the synth-y sound of his MK1 & Mk2 work as a kid, having been brainwashed to believe that I was owning the most crappiest ports of MK1 & 2 and that the SNES, 32X and Saturn ports were superior. Over time I've learned to appreciate them though.
His soundtracks have this distinctive drum and percussion that's easily recognizable.
I still hate Probe to this day though. What a craptastic bunch of programming blokes. Thank GAWD Sculptured Software picked the Genesis porting duties for Wrestlemania Arcade and MK3/UMK3. I shudder to think what Probe would've done with them.

Well the man certainly did a lot of work on the MD and I think the sound engine(s) is usually great, especially the percussion. Most of his work is worth checking out but don't expect to be blown away by memorable hooks or innovative arrangements.
Top 5 Furniss:
Alien 3
Puggsy
Wiz 'n Liz
Second Samurai
Chuck Rock 2
I also like Lion King and Zool quite a bit. Not all of these are solo works btw.

I've always loved Matt Furniss' stuff. Back in the day I think it was partly because I had liked his theme for Shadow Warriors on the c64. Alien 3 was also the second game I played when I got my MD.
Now, whenever I think of the first Mortal Kombat I think of his rendition of the theme tune. I might be crazy but I think that his brighter sounding versions of the themes fit the colourful look of the game more than the arcade tunes do.
